Quizno’s Coupons
January 30th, 2011 |Quizno’s Coupons 2011
Everybody knows that Quizno’s sandwiches are better than Subway sandwiches, but Quizno’s can be a little pricey for a sandwich shop. Having Quizno’s coupons to take money off your final total here and there is important, when you’re budgeting your daily lunch menu.
Even a dollar here and there adds up over the course of a year, so finding Quiznos coupons and online coupon codes becomes essential. It’s not enough to clip coupons out of the Sunday newspaper, but if you have a ready supply of printable coupons every time you walk into a Quizno’s, these savings add up.
Retail Me Not Quiznos Coupons Online
Retail-Me-Not is arguably the most reliable online coupon website, and you’ll find a long list of Quizno’s Coupons on the RetailMeNot Quizno’s page. Below is a representative, if incomplete, list of Quizno’s deals you can find there at present.
- $1 Off a Sub
- $1 Off a Chopped Salad
- $2 Off a Regular or Large Sub
- $10 Off $35 Catering
- $5 Off $20 Catering
- Free Small Sub When you Buy Regular Chips and Fountain Drink
- Free Half Toasty When you Buy Regular Chips and Fountain Drink
- $3 off Subs
The success rates of using these coupons and promo codes are listed next to each coupon listed. Notice how the most reliable coupons are listed at the top of the page, so as you print off coupons from Retail-Me-Not, note that you’re more likely to have success using a coupon they higher up the page your selection is.
Quizno’s “Get Coupon” Page
You can also go to the Quiznos website and find the Quizno’s Get Coupon feature. Here, you can sign up for special deals and promotions with Quizno’s online operation. At present, you get any small prime rib sub for $2.99. That represents a significant savings over your everyday prices.
Once again, joining the Quizno’s coupon club is unobtrusive. If you feel you’re getting spammed by their advertisements (which I’m sure you won’t), you can set filters to rid yourself of any problems. The occasional email announcement of new sandwiche or other menu items and the latest promotion is a small price to pay for savings off your visits to the Quizno’s sub shops.
Kids Eat Free at Quiznos – Printable Coupons
Some people prefer not to sign up with these clubs, so if you’re still searching for Quizno’s savings, you might take a look at the Deals Plus Quiznos page. There’s a coupon here where kids 12 and under eat for free, receiving a sub, toasty torpedo, regular chopped salad, or “Choose 2″ meal for free.
You might try this at your local Quizno’s. The printable coupon in question says that no couple is necessary, though this is for a limited time. That time may have expired in your location, as only 7 of 22 visitors polled said the coupon had worked for them at their location. That’s around 30% success rate, so it’s not likely to be in effect for you. Ask before you have the sandwich made, if that could turn into a problem for you.

What Is Satellite Radio?
January 29th, 2011 |Satellite versus FM Radio
Satellite Radio is a subscription radio service, with the signal beamed through 1 or more satellites. For a monthly fee, a person can purchase a satellite radio feed, similar to satellite tv. Satellite radio is known for its wider range of selections than local terrestrial radio, along with global reception.
How Satellite Radio Works
The use of satellite technology gives satellite radio broadcasts much greater range than your standard FM radio signals, which covered the most ground before the invention of satellite broadcasts.
FM radio or “frequency modulation” radio broadcasts over the radio spectrum, between 87.5 MHz and 108.0 MHz. These carrier waves break up after traveling a certain distance, which is why you’ll see radio stations in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Arizona, and Jacksonville that all broadcast at the 97.9 frequency.
Satellite radio boasts strong signal relays, local facilities with extremely large storage space, and none of the obstacles that break up signals on the ground. Broadcasting from the top of the world down also allows more direct coverage to more locations, instead of a fixed location on the surface of Earth. Therefore, once the prohibitive cost of building the infrastructure for satellite broadcasting were overcome, satellite radio became a viable alternative to the traditional AM/FM radio formats–with many advantages.
When Did Satellite Radio Begin?
The two major satellite radio providers in the United States, Sirius Radio and XM Radio, began operations in the early 1990s. Sirius Radio began in 1990, while XM Radio started up in 1992. Starting in the early 21st century, when satellite radio hookups became more feasible, the competition between these two companies became fierce. The competition ended in 2007, when Sirius bought out XM Radio.
Sirius Satellite Radio
Over the years, Sirius Radio has been the boldest and most successful satellite radio provider in North America. Sirius gained national attention by signing Howard Stern to an immense contract.
In 2005, Howard Stern received 34.3 million shares of Sirius stock, worth an estimated $218 million, and was given a $100 million per year budget to produce three shows on satellite radio. This gave Howard Stern greater programming control, a huge windfall even for a longtime radio star, and the ability to broadcast uncensored. At the same time, Sirius Radio became a buzzword, because of the move of Howard Stern from the terrestrial radio to a new venue.
This was a huge gamble on the part of Sirius Radio, but one which has largely paid off. Within two years, Sirius was buying out its main competitor, XM Radio.
Stern’s show as only the most high profile listening option, though. Below is a list of some of the channel options that are featured or have been featured on Sirius Radio
- Blue Collar Comedy Channel
- Whatever with Alexis and Jennifer
- Superfan Roundtable
- CBC Radio One
- CBC Radio 3
- Radio Bam
- NPR Talk
- Radio Korea
- The Beat
- ESPN All Access Radio
- Sporting New Radio
- Hardcore Sports Radio (they cuss)
- Sports Extra
- Iceberg Radio
- The Weather Network
- DeVore and Diana (defunct)
- 2G’s Show (Champions Soccer Radio Network or CSRN)
- World Football Daily (formerly World Soccer Daily)
- Dale Sommers, The Truckin’ Bozo
- The Morning Drive (Ford Martin and NASCAR)
- Tony Stewart Live (NASCAR show during NASCAR Award Week)
- The Wrap-Up Show
This is just a small sampling of the programs included on Sirius Radio. It’s an understatement to say that your selections on satellite radio providers dwarf their terrestrial broadcast competitors. You’ll find hundreds of channel options that–by and large–come in with flawless accuracy. Also, if you have a channel you enjoy listening to, you won’t have to stop listening after a couple of hours, or try to find the same station on a different frequency in a different region. Just about anywhere in the continental U.S., you’ll be able to receive the same broadcast on the same channel.
Satellite radio is a must for people who travel via automobile a lot, especially if they travel to different regions overland. Truck drivers, car enthusiasts, and road trippers have to own satellite radio. If you’re not sure, check the satellite radio option the next time you rent a car for a day and see the difference. If that’s not an option, take my word for it.

Garnet Hill Coupons
January 29th, 2011 |Garnet Hill Coupons
Popular catalog and Internet retailer Garnet Hill sells women’s clothing, women’s shoes, bedding and bedroom fabrics, kid’s clothes, and a few other things such as perfumes and small gift items. Garnet Hill is best known in its catalog format, though the popularity of the website is increasing rapidly as well. There are also two retail stores, both in New England.
Garnet Hill has been around since 1976 and has built a name for itself as a supplier of quality organic cotton goods. The next time you shop around Garnet Hill’s website or catalog, bring along these ideas for ways to save money on Garnet Hill products. You can use coupons, coupon codes, and a few other tricks to get discounts on and save money off your Garnet Hill bill.
2011 Garnet Hill Coupons
The first place you should look for ways to save on things you buy at Garnet Hill is through third-party coupon hunting sites like Coupon Heaven, Coupon Mountain, and Retail Me Not. You won’t always find promo codes that are valid, but (for example) right now at Coupon Heaven you can get free shipping on lots of different items including any purchase of women’s shoes. Sites like Retail Me Not are more likely to have coupons for specific items from Garnet Hill, such as a specific line of dresses or a particular piece of kid’s clothing.
When you burn out at third-party coupon sites, check the Garnet Hill website for deals and promotions. The Garnet Hill “Sales & Promotions” page is more than just a collection of items with reduced prices. The section called “Just Reduced” has incredible deals that are only valid for a short time, and you can search through collections of items priced at special levels, like “under $50″ or “under $40″, etc.
Other Garnet Hill Discounts,Deals & Promotions – Free Shipping
The most common deals for Garnet Hill are for free shipping. Any coupon or “deal” hunting website worth its salt will have free shipping codes for Garnet Hill. While saving $6 or $7 may not seem like much, if you use free shipping codes for all your purchases at Garnet Hill for several years, that $6 or $7 really adds up.
It can be hard to find coupons and promotions for Garnet Hill. The company just doesn’t release that many coupons or offer deals outside of what they offer on their website. In fact, most third-party coupon sites have a special note on their Garnet Hill page saying something like “This retailer has asked us not to host coupons” blah blah blah. Bottom line, you’re not going to find the variety of coupons at Garnet Hill that you’d find at other retailers.
Still, you can occasionally find promo codes and printable coupons through simple Internet searches. Keep an eye out on third-party coupon sites and check the Garnet Hill sale pages regularly, and you can find yourself saving money on the expensive Garnet Hill cotton goods you love.

What Is a Pedometer?
January 28th, 2011 |What Is a Pedometer?
A pedometer is an electronic device which keeps track of how many steps a person has walked, jogged, or ran. More expensive pedometers calculates the approximate number of calories you’ve burned, the distance in kilometers or miles you’ve traveled, and the amount of time you’ve been walking.
Is a Pedometer Accurate?
There’s some debate about the degree of accuracy electronic step-counting devices have, so the key word in my description above is “approximate”. A pedometer gives you a pretty good idea of how far you’re traveled, how many calories you burn while you exercise, and the number of steps you’ve taken. The last calculation is most accurate, because that’s what the pedometer is counting.
You have to ask yourself whether a pedometer is more accurate than you would be counting out steps yourself (the answer is “yes”). Since many exercise and fitness regimens require a certain level of activity to succeed, you need a relatively accurate means of counting your rate of exercise. Since the recommended amount of steps in a day is between 6,000 and 10,000 steps, there’s no way most people can maintain concentration throughout a workout to track their steps themselves.
So the answer is that a pedometer is probably not totally accurate, but it’s the most accurate way you can track your cardio exercises. The number of steps counted is going to be pretty close (if you use the device properly), while it’s conversion to statistics like calories burned, kilometers traveled, or miles traveled is going to be less accurate. I hate to put it this way, but the more you spend on your pedometer, the more refinement there’s likely to be in the design, and the more accurate your device is likely to be.
How Does a Pedometer Work?
When you wear the pedometer and you walk, run, or jog, the device measures the amount of vibrations in your gait. The electronic step calculator is set to record a certain amount of vibration as one human step, which is how it counts. If you were to stand still and shake a pedometer, it would count your movements.
Proper use of your exercise counter is important when using one of these devices. The recommended use is to clip the pedometer in an upright position onto your belt. Some joggers place their pedometers in their pocket or their backpack as a more convenient way of tracking their progress, but pedometers are going to calculate your shakes and vibrations differently in these positions, and be less accurate.
Testing Pedometer Accuracy
If you want to test out the accuracy of a pedometer carried in a backpack or pocket, get your exercise on the same track or path and use the pedometer first on you belt, and then either in your pocket or backpack. Note the difference in the two measurements, assume the belt measurement is more accurate, and calculate how much the pedometer varies in its calculates. You’ll get a good idea how far off the count is, and whether that amount of accuracy warrants keeping your counting device in the recommended position.
Pedometers in Electronic Devices
As time goes by, the reliability of pedometers is going to increase. Also, you’ll probably have a built-in pedometer on many of your standard electronic devices, like mp3 players (often used during exercise) and cell phones. In fact, there are mobile phones and music file devices on the market which already contain a pedometer.
At the moment, the pedometers on these devices have a reputation for being somewhat less reliable than a pedometer bought specifically for that purpose, but once again, improvements are being made all the time. It won’t be too many years before pedometers have almost total accuracy.
Should I Get a Pedometer?
I suggest anyone serious about fitness who does significant walking, running, or jogging should use a pedometer. This gives you a good idea how much work you’re doing and how many calories you’re burning.

Burlington Coat Factory Coupons
January 26th, 2011 |Burlington Coat Factory Coupons
The first Burlington Coat Factory opened its doors in 1924 in (where else?) Burlington, New Jersey. There are now more than 400 shop fronts in forty states around the country as well as a website where you can get all your men’s and women’s warm weather gear as well as clothing for babies and children and maternity clothes.
Burlington Coat Factory is a “discount clothing” store. Though you can find some expensive items at your local Burlington Coat Factory, you’ll never find a coat or a piece of clothing being sold at full price. Deals like “buy one get one free” and “50% off” sales are common at Burlington, usually tied to a season such as Christmas or an after summer blowout sale. To save even more money on your next winter coat purchase, you can use printable coupons, online promo codes, and other
online deals. Here’s how.
Online Promo Codes for Burlington Coat Factory
Since the Burlington Coat Factory website is a big part of their business, most of the online coupons you find are in the form of promo codes that you enter at checkout to get a discount on your online purchase. These are even easier to use than printable coupons–no need to print or tear out a coupon, you just write down the code and put it in the proper box at checkout, usually labelled “coupons” or “promo code.”
You can find these promo codes at most of the same websites where you’d find printable coupons. Third-party coupon sites are also great places to find promo codes that you input at checkout. For example, my favorite third-party site RetailMeNot.com has very little in the way of printable Burlington Coat Factory coupons but is stocked with promo codes. As of this writing, they’re offering a special promo code for 74% off your online purchase. RetailMeNot rates their codes and coupons by their “success”, and this huge discount is currently running at a 66% success rate, pretty decent for online promo codes that usually hover in the 30s.
Other sources for promo codes are in Burlington Coat Factory’s own advertising and at Burlington’s social media sites on Twitter and Facebook.
Printable Burlington Coat Factory Coupons 2011
Just because RetailMeNot doesn’t have a ton of printable coupons doesn’t mean no other third-party site will. CouponCabin.com, for example, is hosting dozens of printable Burlington Coat Factory coupons, including deals like 10% off baby clothes, free shipping on maternity items, and other deals. You have to take advantage of these deals quickly–they expire fast. The good news is, it is very common for other deals to take their place.
Outside of coupon hunting websites, you’ll have to dig through Burlington Coat Factory’s promotional material to find coupons to use in-store. Burlington Coat Factory often advertises in newspapers and direct mail campaigns, so keep a sharp eye out when it is time to buy your next winter coat.
Burlington Coat Factory is a discount store that sells much more than just heavy coats. A popular maternity and children’s clothing store as well as a shop known for deep discounts on cold weather gear, Burlington Coat Factory also offers plenty of printable coupons and promo codes. All you have to do is look for them.

Great Clips Coupons
January 25th, 2011 |Great Clips Coupons
Great Clips was first opened in 1982 in Minneapolis as a “discount” hair salon for the whole family. There are now over 2,800 Great Clips salons around the country, with 30,000 stylists working the chairs. Generally, the Great Clips store near you is open seven days a week, meaning you and your family can get your haircut when it is convenient. Though you don’t need an appointment to get a haircut, Great Clips is rolling out an online check-in system that shortens the wait time for their customers and organizes busy haircut days like Saturdays and Sundays.
A haircut at Great Clips will cost you about $12 per adult head and $9 per child’s head–that includes washing and styling. Some locations will charge a little more or a little less, but you can expect to pay around $12 for every haircut. If you have a large family, that $12 per head charge can really add up–luckily there are plenty of Great Clips coupons to be had if you do a little homework.

Online Great Clips Coupons
Once upon a time, Great Clips put out tons of $8.99 haircut coupons, spreading them all over the Internet. You could find these coupons (good for about $3 off the standard haircut price) at blogs and coupon sites, print them out, and bring them right in when you go to get your haircut. Unfortunately, Great Clips put a stop to that coupon deal. If you find a $8.99 haircut coupon from Great Clips, odds are that it isn’t legitimate.
Still, skilled coupon hunters can find deals on Great Clips cuts. Search your favorite third-party coupon hunting sites for the occasional Great Clips deal. RetailMeNot.com is currently hosting a couple of “$1 off” coupons that boast a 15% success rate–that may not sound like much, but if you call ahead, you may find that one of these printable coupons can save you a buck or two on your next cut.
Printable Great Clips Coupons 2011
It isn’t as easy to find printable Great Clips coupons as it once was. National haircut chains like Supercuts, Best Cuts, and Great Clips just aren’t putting out as many printable coupons as they once did. Now, to find Great Clips coupons, you have to do a lot more digging through advertising circulars, fundraisers, and your local paper.
The Great Clips coupon deals you find in these sources are guaranteed to work at your local Great Clips franchise–they are put out by the company and distributed in specific areas to drum up business. The Sunday paper is the best source of coupons you can tear right out of the paper. If you can’t find a coupon this way, check the advertising supplement thrown in with your paper.
Great Clips used to be one of the better deals in franchise hair salons due to their heavy use of coupons. Now that those coupons are few and far between, Great Clips still has a good product at a good price, especially for children’s haircuts, at less than $10. Before your next family trip to the Great Clips hair salon near you, check your local paper and your choice of third-party coupon site just in case you can save a little cash on your hair style.

What Is Nicotine Gum?
January 24th, 2011 |Nicotine Gum Facts
Nicotine gum is a type of chewing gum which contains the stimulant nicotine. When chewing this gum, the nicotine is absorbed into the body through the tongue, where it enters the bloodstream.
Nicotine gum is used by smokers who are trying to quit smoking, since this dosage of the stimulant continues to offer the former smoker the same “nicotine high” they got from cancer-causing cigarettes, cigars, pipe smoking, or chewing tobacco.
Nicotine gum is offered over-the-counter in many nations, including the United States of America and Europe. Some jurisdictions allow nicotine gum to be sold off-the-shelf, often adjacent to the smoking products or tobacco displays. Like any other gum, the product is sold in various flavors.
The nicotine content tends to be the amount of 1 to 2 cigarettes. Other smoking cessation products include nicotine lozenges, nicotine inhalers, and nicotine patches.
Nicotine Gum Brands
The two most notable nicotine gum marketers are NicoDerm out of California and Nicorette, which was developed and is still manufactured in Sweden, but is owned by the Johnson & Johnson Group. Other nicotine gum producers include Commit, NiQuitin, Nicotinell, Prostep, Nicotrol, and Habitrol.
Side Effects of Nicotine Gum
Nicotine gum might lead to an increased risk of oral cancer, but it reduces the chances or lung cancer that smoking causes a person, and it’s much healthier to stop inhaling smoke into your lungs all day long. On the other hand, nicotine is not a healthy substance to ingest, however it enters your body, since nicotine constricts the arteries and makes it harder for your heart to pump blood.
Continued exposure to nicotine leads to hypertension or high blood pressure, and can accelerate coronary artery disease. Exposure to nicotine can also produce angina pectoris (also known as cardiac ischemia or chest pain). Nicotine contributes to acid reflux disease, may cause wounds to heal more slowly (less circulation), might cause peptic ulcer disease, and lead to an increased chance for strokes.
Other side effects of nicotine gum chewers include hiccups, along with other muscle control issues for the throat muscles, such as accidental saliva swallowing, which causes irritation. Also, since nicotine restricts your blood vessels, chewing nicotine gum may contribute to gum disease. Finally, if you’re a woman in the early states of pregnancy, you should not use nicotine gum, as both nicotine patches and gum are shown to increase chances of birth defects.
Nicotine Gum Habits
So it’s best if you stop your intake of nicotine altogether, and you should look at nicotine gum as a stepping stone to a nicotine-free life. You are making a huge leap forward when you quit smoking, but you don’t want to quit smoking to get the smoke out of your lungs. You want to eventually purge your body of nicotine altogether.

McDonalds Coupons
January 24th, 2011 |McDonalds Coupons Online
McDonalds is the world’s largest chain of fast-food restaurants specializing in hamburgers and other typical drive-thru food. McDonalds played a big part in the history of food in America–founded in 1940, McDonalds grew from a single restaurant specializing in “speedy service” to a worldwide empire, with 400,000 employees and 41,000 restaurants spread across the globe. McDonalds is synonymous with “fast food.”
Featuring a “dollar menu” and a few other budget options, including cheaper sandwiches aimed at people with light wallets, such as the McDouble (a cheeseburger with two meat patties and only one piece of cheese) and the McChicken sandwich. But if you don’t want to mess around with the cheaper fare on the McDonalds menu board, you can use coupons, printable online coupons, and even promotional codes and special deals from McDonalds to save cash on your next drive thru.

Online McDonalds Coupons 2011
The easiest online McDonalds coupons and deals to find are the ones released by the company through their website and social networking pages. If you do this, you don’t have to clip coupons out of the newspaper or dig around third-party coupon hunting sites for McDonalds deals.
McDonalds has both a Facebook and Twitter page, and following McDonalds through either or both of these pages can earn you lots of savings the next time you’re craving a Big Mac. For the most part, you’ll have to sift through some very generic McDonald’s Facebook posts about menu items or trivia, but every now and then they offer a special coupon to their Facebook friends only. Just print it out and present it at the nearest McDonald’s for savings.
The Twitter account works much the same–follow McDonald’s on Twitter and you can find special deals available only to the Twitterati.
Third-Party Printable Coupons for McDonald’s
Checking out third-party coupon hunting sites is usually good for a small deal–big companies like McDonald’s don’t offer huge discounts through these sites, but you never know what you’ll find. 8coupons.com is a particularly useful coupon site for McDonalds’ fans because it finds deals that are good at restaurants near you. Right now, 8coupons.com has a deal posted for the McDonald’s down the street–buy a small french fries, get a McChicken sandwich for free. Coupons like this are the most common McDonald’s online printable coupons. They aren’t worth a ton, but you might as well make use of them if they’re out there.
Other 2011 McDonald’s Deals
There are a couple of other ways to save cash at McDonald’s restaurants. Almost every time you are served food inside the store (as opposed to drive-thru) you get coupons on the bag, on the wrapper for the food itself, or on the “tray” that the food is carried on.
You should also check your Sunday newspaper’s advertising supplement. McDonald’s franchises often have their own coupon deals that they release in the local paper. Usually, these coupons are good for a single free menu item or a few dollars off your total purchase.
McDonald’s isn’t the most expensive restaurant in town, but if you’re feeding a large family or if you’re a college student with little expendable cash, using coupons can turn a dollar-menu feast into a decent combo meal with fries and a soda, all for less money. There are plenty of coupons to be had for McDonald’s restaurants, so be sure to follow McDonald’s on Facebook and Twitter and check local advertising circulars for McDonald’s coupons.

What Is Wii Fit?
January 23rd, 2011 |What Is Wii Fit?
Wii Fit is a video game designed by the Nintendo company for their Nintendo Wii video game console. Wii Fit is a fitness game, designed to lead players through an exercise program. The Wii Fit has been a tremendous success, selling the third-most copies of any console game in video game history (22.6 million and counting).
How Does Wii Fit Work?
Playing the Wii Fit game requires use fo the Wii Balance Board, a specially designed “platform peripheral”. The Wii Balance Board looks quite similar to a step-up body scale people use to measure themselves in their household. The device has a basic white top and a light gray base.
Wii Balance Board
When you play Wii Fit, you stand on the Wii Balance Board, which is outfitted with electronic sensors to record and chart your progress through the game. The board has about 60 hours of battery power, and it is thought to measure a person’s weight and center of balance more accurately than your average bathroom scale.
Though the Wii Balance Board is considered a top of the line, revolutionary video game peripheral device, the design is actually quite similar to the 1982 Atari Joyboard. Of course, the Nintendo Wii Balance Board is a great deal more advanced. The designers claim their device is based on the double scales that sumo wrestlers use to weigh themselves.
Does Wii Fit Simulate Exercise?
Wii Fit induces the player to get exercise in a number of different ways, involving both strength training and cardiovascular training. In fact, national health club chains have even bought Wii Fit devices to place in their gyms, while nursing homes have bought Wii consoles and the Wii Fit video game to help nursing home patients achieve better posture.
Wii Fit game play features mini-games involving aerobics, yoga, strength training, and balance contests. As the name implies, Wii Fit is meant to convince people to get a little exercise while they’re gaming. The main designer’s stated goal is to get the entire family to exercise together, though I’m not so sure the Wii Fit’s popularity has translated into family fitness games. As a single-person fitness game, the Wii Fit has had startling success.
While the Wii Fit has gotten gentle criticism from some fitness experts for the lightness of their exercise programs, the game has gotten generally positive reviews from most people–inside or outside the fitness world.
Wii Fitness – The Nintendo Video Game
Nintendo designed the Nintendo Wii to be inexpensive and to encourage people to become more active when playing video games. I know video game enthusiasts who have no desire to combine their video game sessions with gym sessions, the concept has been hugely popular with a large part of the video game community. Wii Fit is the current apex of electronic fitness gaming.
What Is Wii Fit Plus?
Wii Fit Plus is an enhanced version of the original Wii Fit, featuring all the original fitness games, as well as fifteen new areobics and balance games, 6 new yoga and strength training exercise games, the option to custom-build fitness regimens, the ability to register your babies (and pets) fitness profiles, and to keep track of calories burned with their own on-board calorie counter.

Who Is Porter-Cable?
January 22nd, 2011 |If you’ve ever worked extensively with power tools, chances are you are somewhat familiar with the Porter-Cable name. Even if you’ve never used one of their tools, you probably at least know they make power tools. Porter-Cable is a name that has been associated with power tools for a century and, despite many ups and downs, still remains a strong player in the market.
The Old Days
Porter-Cable is primarily known for:
- Creating the first portable belt sander
- Creating the first helical-drive circular saw
- Creating the first portable band saw
While this much is true, there is of course more to the story. Porter-Cable got its start in 1906 when F.E. Cable and G.G. Porter and R.E. Porter started a tool shop and jogging machine shop out of a garage in Syracuse, New York. They had to make a substantial investment for the time ($2,300), but in the end it was worth it. They had enough success that in a few years they were able to delve into power tools and created their own line of power lathes. Just a few years later in 1917 they bought their own plant in Syracuse.
In 1926, Art Emmons, Porter-Cable’s Chief Engineer, created the portable electric belt sander. It was called the Take-About Sander, and with this Porter-Cable began to carve out their own niche in the form of portable power tools. A few short years later, the same engineer created the helical-drive circular saw – his design is still the most used design in circular saws used to this very day.
The Inevitable Buyout
Things continued apace until the company was sold in 1960 to Rockwell International, a huge American industrial conglomerate. Rockwell got rid of the Porter-Cable name and moved the headquarters to Jackson, Tennessee. They also created a line of low-end power tools solely to compete with Black and Decker. Unfortunately, these tools had many problems and ultimately the brand image was damaged.
In 1981, Pentair, Inc. (a company mostly focused on water technologies such as pumps, etc.) acquired the power tool group of Rockwell International, i.e. Porter-Cable and Delta Machinery. Pentair quickly reinstated the Porter-Cable name and focused on creating top-of-the-line power tools for professionals. A few years later, they created the electric random orbital sander, the very first of its kind. It was a boom time for the company, during which they saw a huge expansion in distribution and sales. Porter-Cable even had a collection of materials put in the Smithsonian Institution in 1996.
In 2000, Porter-Cable was formally consolidated with Delta Machinery. Both were part of the Pentair family, so it was a natural choice. About this time, Pentair also bought out DeVilbiss Air Power Company and began releasing air tools, compressors, pressure washers, and generators under the Porter-Cable name.
In 2005, everything came full circle, as longtime rival Black and Decker acquired Porter-Cable as part of Pentair Tools Group.
As you can see, Porter-Cable has had its trials and tribulations, but the traditional of quality has returned time and time again. People these days know that if they are looking for wood routers for sale or any kind of power tools, they can look to Porter-Cable. This company makes great tools of any stripe, whether it be a router table or circular saw.

Who Is JessEm?
January 21st, 2011 |If you have been into woodworking for any length of time, you’ve probably come across the JessEm name a few times. JessEm is one of the leading manufacturers of wood routers and other woodworking tools, so it’s practically impossible to avoid them if you are in the business. But who is this company? What makes them so special? Well, JessEm’s claim to fame is their Rout-R-Lift, a device that helped push them to the forefront of the industry. Let’s take a look it and find out how it thrust JessEm into the spotlight.
The Rout-R-Lift
In the past, if you need to make an adjustment to your router while you were working on your router table you had to pull it out entirely or reach under the table. It was a real pain that you simply had to live with as a woodworker. Router tables were all pretty much the same in this regard.
In 1999, however, the JessEm Tool Company created the Rout-R-Lift to get around this issue. The Rout-R-Lift is essentially a hand-cranked lift that allows you to make adjustments to your router right at the tabletop. The handle is easily removed and attached via a hex-shaped shaft, so it never gets in the way and can easily be re-attached for quick adjustments.
Expansion
The small company based in Tennessee did not rest on its laurels after the success of the Rout-R-Lift. Even before the Rout-R-Lift was named “one of the top 25 innovations in woodworking in the past 25 years” in a Wood Magazine article, JessEm was continuing to improve upon their design and apply their innovation to other designs.
The next few years saw the creation of quite a few innovations:
- The Rout-R-Lift II
- The Mast-R-Lift (I and II)
- The Mit-R-Slide
- The Rout-R-Jacket
- The Mast-R-Lift
As you can imagine, the Mast-R-Lift (are you seeing a name trend here, yet?) is quite similar in design to the Rout-R-Lift. The main difference here lies in durability. The Mast-R-Lift II is wholly designed around durability and interchangeability. It features a dedicated cam lock, five double-sealed bearings, and fits practically every modern fixed-base router on the market. The Mast-R-Lift is just as popular as the Rout-R-Lift and JessEm is quite proud of it.
Dedicated to the Craft
In the end, it’s fair to say that JessEm is a company that is wholly dedicated to those people out there that work with wood routers and router tables every day. Day in and day out, this company is always looking for innovative ways to make the woodworker’s job easier. They know the job and they know what it takes to makes some of the beautiful cabinets and furniture we see out there every day.
It’s one thing to appreciate the work, but quite another to immerse yourself in the craft for the sake of it. JessEm is one of those niche companies that has managed to truly thrive because of the quality of their tools and the recognition and loyalty they in turn receive from their customers.

What Is a Router Table?
January 20th, 2011 |Whether you are a professional woodworker or amateur do-it-yourselfer, chances are you’ve used a wood router or at the very least heard of one. Assuming you have a modicum of knowledge about wood routers and how you can use them to carve detailed designs into wood, have you ever used a router table? If not, do you know what one is? While many woodworking veterans out there may shake their head at such a question, there are plenty of folks that are just getting started and have some questions. That is who this piece is aimed at; the guys that have barely gotten their toes wet in woodworking and want to know what’s what.
Safety and Ease of Use
As you probably know, many wood routers simply require you to hold the router, suspending it over the wood on which you are working by holding onto the handles. While this old style of routing is tried and true, there is an easier way. Some may scoff at the idea, but there is an adage that says, “Work smarter, not harder.” That’s what we’re talking about with router tables. They take the burden of labor off you so you can focus on your craft.
The Mechanics of a Router Table
A router table simply takes the wood router and flips it upside down. The router is mounted underneath the router table, with the bit sticking out through the table so you can mount the piece of wood you want to route on the top. That is the basic premise, but there are different types of table that allow the router to be mounted in different positions for different types of cuts. There are also additional precision and safety features that make router tables easier to use.
The “fence” is the piece on the router table that often runs lengthwise along the top of the table.
The fence allows you to keep the piece you are working on steady and allows for more precise cuts. Precision is very important when you are routing wood, so here are a couple of other things to ensure before you buy a particular router table:
- Make sure it’s made of heavy material
- Test it’s rigidity
What does this mean? Essentially, you have to consider that you will be putting considerable pressure on the piece you are working on and the actual router table. If the router table bends ever so slightly, the piece you are working on will as well and your cut will not be straight. If you are doing multiple cuts on multiple pieces of wood, chances are your cuts will never match up if the cuts are not precise. So it behooves you to get a good solid cast-iron (or similar material) router table. The weight of such material helps with precision as well, as there won’t be as much jostling around to mess up your cuts.
This is just the basic information to get you started on choosing a good router table, but there are many more resources you can call upon online and at your local hardware store or woodworking shop. Talking to a professional face-to-face is optimum, but if that is not an option for you there are plenty of people online that can really give you a hand.

How to Select a Lift Chair
January 19th, 2011 |When you first begin searching for your lift chair, chances are you’ll find yourself swimming in a huge industry that offers countless options for mobility challenged adults. Don’t let this intimidate you. The benefits from purchasing a lift chair are well worth the research and money you’ll invest in your chair. When you buy a lift chair, you’re not only investing in a piece of furniture that will give you increased independence. You’re investing in your own health and wellness. You deserve only the best chair for your body.
Body Size
The first and most important factor to help guide your search for a lift chair is your body size. If you are short and slender, strongly consider buying a small or extra chair. The chair will be much more comfortable for you in the long run and easier to operate. If you’re larger, buying a more heavy-duty chair is essential. Since the strength of the lift mechanisms rely on body weight, if you’re more than 300 pounds you need to buy a stronger chair with better lift mechanisms. If you buy the wrong chair, it will be uncomfortable and last for a shorter amount of time. And since they’re so expensive, that’s the last thing you want!
Budget
Once you have figured out what size chair you need, consider your budget. Chairs can run from less than $600 to over $2000. If you have disability assistance or medical insurance that will pay for your chair, then use the maximum amount. The more money you invest, the better quality chair you’ll get. Some options to consider include balanced payment plans or less expensive upholstery on your chair. Or, if you’re more concerned with style rather than budget, feel free to splurge on items such as leather or high cost fabrics to match the furniture you already own.
Accessories
The final item to consider are the optional accessories you can add to your chair. Some of these options include heat and massage options. Heat is perfect for those who have joint pain or muscular disorders. Heat increases circulation to the area and promotes healing. Massage is perfect for those with very limited mobility and will be sitting for long periods of time. Massage allows you to stay in the chair longer, increases muscle tone and also increases healing.
Recommendations
Two manufacturers to consider:
Pride lift chairs and Golden lift chairs are two of the best lift chair manufacturers in the disabled assistance industry. Pride lift chairs and Golden list chairs are customized to each customer and customized right from the first time they’re built. Pride lift chairs and Golden lift chairs use a specialized mechanical technology that’s almost guaranteed never to malfunction or stop working. They’re also very safe, with emergency disconnect for the hand-operating unit to prevent mishaps. Adults with limited mobility have bought Pride and Gold lift chair units and have the top customer satisfaction rates in the industry.
No matter what you’re disability, you can be sure a lift chair will decrease your fatigue, joint pain and inflammation. Lift chairs can give you the independence you’ve been looking for so you can restore full mobility to your lifestyle.

Restaurant Coupons to Print
January 17th, 2011 |Free Restaurant Coupons to Print
If you can use Google, you can find coupons for your favorite restaurant. Finding restaurant coupons to print right from your web browser takes just a few seconds, and in some cases you can save ten or fifteen bucks with a single coupon. Of course, not every restaurant has online coupons–you’re most likely to find a coupon for a restaurant that operates as a chain, though sometimes a single-owner restaurant offers online coupons or deals for people who visit their website.
There are so many websites devoted to coupons, coupon hunting, and promotional deals, it is a miracle that anyone pays full price for anything anymore. The Internet is the perfect venue for coupon hunting–people from all over the world can post their coupon and deal finds in one easy-to-search place, and millions of us do just that. Why hunt for coupons all on
your own? Find restaurant coupons to print from your web browser before your next night eating out.
Online Printable Restaurant Coupons 2011
Any time you’re looking for online coupons, going to the manufacturer’s website is the first step. Everyone has a website these days, and most of these websites contain a promo code, printable coupon, or promotional offer for their customers. Look for words like “Coupons” or “Special Offers”, usually prominently displayed on the main page of a website. If you don’t see something like this, look for an “e-club” or “online newsletter” where you enter your email address and the restaurant sends you a monthly email. These clubs almost always come with coupons and deals.
After you dig through a restaurant’s website, check Facebook and Twitter for social media pages. Big chain restaurants and local hot dog joints alike keep free social media profiles to stay in touch with their customers. You can usually find a coupon by following social media, with either exclusive printable coupons on a company’s social media profile or instructions for getting special deals that fans of their social media pages hear about first.
Third-Party Coupon Sites for Restaurant Coupons
Sites like CouponMom.com, 8coupons.com, wow-coupons.com and others are like giant versions of your grandmother’s old coupon drawer. If you dig long enough you’re bound to find a coupon you can use for a restaurant you love. They work by asking people to post coupons and deals they find, then everyone around the world can use these printable coupons without doing more than simply searching for the restaurant they want to go to.
Any coupon you find online especially at third-party sites should be verified before you try to use them. There’s nothing more embarrassing than trying to use an invalid coupon or having your coupon rejected by a restaurant’s management.
Other Restaurant Coupon Ideas
If you still can’t find a coupon for a restaurant you like visiting their website or a third-party site, you have to get creative. Buying the Entertainment Book gives you instant access to lots of entertainment coupons, including some restaurants. The 2011 edition of the Entertainment Book is on sale right now, and you never know what cool coupon deals you’ll get when you buy it.
Using the Internet to save money on restaurant night is easy and free. You should never spend money for an online coupon–they’re easy enough to find if you point your browser to the right place. Restaurant coupons to print out from your Internet browser are sitting there begging for you to find them.

Smokey Bones Coupons
January 17th, 2011 |Free Smokey Bones Restaurant Coupons
Smokey Bones Barbeque and Grill is a casual dining restaurant that focuses on Eastern US-style barbecue. There are 68 Smokey Bones restaurants in seventeen different states, all in the Eastern portion of the country. Smokey Bones is owned by a conglomerate that also operates Captain D’s Seafood restaurants (hundreds of locations in North America) as well as Boston Market and Fazoli’s restaurants. The menu at Smokey Bones now emphasizes healthier barbecue choices like smoked or grilled meats as opposed to meats slathered in barbecue sauce, although those classic barbecue favorites are still available.
The hickory smoked meats at Smokey Bones are supposedly cooked for a minimum of 11 hours, and this “slow cooking” style ups the price a bit from traditional casual dining. A family of four can expect to pay $40 or $50 at a minimum when eating at Smokey Bones. Using online printable coupons and other promotional deals, your next outing to Smokey Bones
can be a little less expensive. Here’s how to save money on your favorite grilled, smoked, and barbecued food.
Online Printable Smokey Bones Coupons 2011
The only way to get coupons from Smokey Bones restaurants is to eat lunch or dinner there, fill out a customer survey, then collect your coupon online by entering the special code on your survey. Sometimes, Smokey Bones hands out coupons to diners with their bill as a way to draw them back. Sometimes just asking the hostess for a coupon pays off–but usually you’ll have to fill out the customer survey and hope for a good coupon when you input the code online.
If you search the various third-party coupon hunting sites, you can often find coupons and promo codes with about a 50% success rate. Check out RetailMeNot’s Smokey Bones dedicated site for an example. The most successful coupon on that page is currently only about 55%–that’s because every Smokey Bones franchise has the right to accept or refuse any coupons they want. If you plan on using a coupon from one of these sites, call the Smokey Bones location you’re going to visit ahead of time to check the coupon. Deals you can find at these sites include things like $10 off your bill, free wings with the purchase of any bar beverage, and other traditional-style coupons.
The last two Entertainment Books have contained a Smokey Bones coupon or two, and though the 2011 issue of the Entertainment Book is not available as of this writing, there’s a good chance that Smokey Bones will be represented again. Picking up an Entertainment Book can save you cash on the finger-lickin good ribs you were probably going to buy anyway.
In 2007, Smokey Bones came under new ownership that updated the look of the restaurants, the restaurant’s image, menu, and even the coupon policy. It isn’t as easy to find official restaurant coupons as it once was–Smokey Bones has even cut way back on their participation with school fundraisers and other local groups. Still, asking a manager, employee, or filling out a customer survey for a coupon isn’t too much to ask and almost always works.

What Is a Motorola Xoom?
January 16th, 2011 |What Is the Motorola Xoom Computer Tablet?
Motorola Xoom is a computer tablet and a new alternative to the iPad. Since the iPad came out last year, electronic tablet devices have become one of the hottest of electronic trends. All the early adopters had to have an iPad, while all the competitors had to design their own version of the Internet pad.
Motorola is actually late to the game, but that’s probably a good thing. Instead of rushing out a product to capitalize on the first six months of the iPad craze, Motorola decided to spend over a year in development, designing and testing, letting technology advance another year, and now they have a product they consider a worthy challenger–one expected to exceed the iPad in performance (though not sales, given branding).
What Are the Motorola Xoom Specs?
The Xoom has the largest touchpad screen on the market, comparing favorably to the iPad with a 10.1 inch screen. This makes the Motorola Zoom slightly heavier than the iPad, though.
Xoom’s memory capacity sits at 1 GB or RAM, while the original iPad only have 256 MB of Ram. The more natural comparison will Xoom versus iPad 2, which comes out in April. At least until then, the Motorola Xoom has the most memory among computer tablets on the market.
At the same time, Xoom compares favorably to most other computer tablets on the market in battery life, with roughly 10 hours of capacity. As you can see, the Motorola Xoom definitely has the specifications to make it a big success on the market, if the pricing doesn’t come in way over-the-top.
How Much Does Motorola Xoom Cost?
The big stumbling block is the speculated price of the Motorola Xoom. Early word suggests that the standard price for a Motorola Xoom is going to be around $800, or about $300 more than what an entry-level iPad is likely to cost you. That’s such an outrageous jump in price that I assume this is going to price Motorola Xoom out of the market, for most consumers.
When the release date hits, you can expect to find better deals on Xooms, but only if you sign up for a Motorola service plan. In other words, the Motorola Xoom only becomes feasible if it drives customers to Motorola. I predict there will be a lot of potential computer tablet costumers who decline that deal just on principle. To beat the reigning champ, you have to beat the champ decisively, and costing three-hundred dollars more than what many customers already think is an outrageous price does not get it done.
Motorola Xoom is going to be a superior product than the iPad 1, but you’re going to have to pay a premium to use it. Anti-Apple computer users might view the Xoom as an option, but most computer-neutral buyers are going to balk at such an expense.
There’s one other group of people who might be on-board with the Motorola Xoom: the Android phone fanatics.
What Is Motorola Xoom’s Operating System?
Motorola Xoom’s operating system is called “Honeycomb”, and it’s a version of the Android operating system specifically designed for computer tablets. If you aren’t aware of what “Android” is, then let me explain.
Android is an operating system originally designed for smartphones. Supported by Google and a consortium of 78 (and counting) hardware, software, and Internet companies, Android phones have become all the rage for people tired of their standard old cell phones. Android phones cost more, but as more telecommunications companies join the Android bandwagon, it’s becoming synonymous with smartphones.
Therefore, it’s natural for Motorola to partner with the most successful operating system in their industry (that is, telecommunications).

Proctor and Gamble Coupons
January 15th, 2011 |Proctor and Gamble Coupons
Procter and Gamble (also known as simply P&G) is one of the world’s biggest consumer goods companies. P&G is the company behind tons of famous brands, stuff sold in grocery stores and retail pharmacies that you may not even know are produced by the same company. Because their product line is so massive, Proctor and Gamble print and provide tons of coupons, discounts, and special offers throughout the year on pretty much everything they produce. Because of their massive scope, P&G is one of the biggest advertisers in the world, drawing in customers with lots of free samples and promotional deals and coupons.
A list of products that Proctor and Gamble produces looks something like this: Braun, Bounty, Pringles, Olay, Pantene, etc. Food, beauty products, paper goods, and even some consumer medications are all on the list. When you want to save
money on things you buy every week at the store, finding P&G coupons and deals is a good way to save. Here’s how to save money on the P&G products you already buy.
Proctor and Gamble Coupons and Free Samples
The easiest way to save cash on P&G goods is through their various coupon programs. There are currently three different P&G promotional plans–Brand Sampler, P&G Brand Saver, and P&G Everyday Solutions.
Through Proctor and Gamble Everyday Solutions, you can get both Procter and Gamble coupons and free samples of their goods. To get these offers, you only have to register online at the Procter and Gamble website. Registration is quick and free. Once you join, you’ll get a monthly newsletter from Proctor and Gamble and can then take part in the other two coupon and deal P&G programs, P&G Brand Saver and P&G Brand Sampler. These monthly newsletters are full of coupons, special offers, new product news, fairly lame “tips” on beauty and health, and contests that you can enter directly from the newsletter.
P&G Third-Party Coupon Sites
You can find coupons at third-party coupon websites for P&G goods, though this is not as easy as simply joining the P&G coupon programs. Sites like coupons.com and CouponMom.com sometimes host deals on specific Proctor and Gamble goods–these coupons are usually for a few cents off and expire pretty quickly, so when you find one you should use it pretty quick.
Proctor and Gamble make so many things, you probably have more P&G branded products under the kitchen sink than you’re aware of. There’s really no reason to spend full price at the grocery store on things like Pampers and Oral-B–P&G releases their own huge line of coupons and deals, and if you can’t find one that way, you can search online discount and coupon sites.

What Is a Joovy Caboose Stroller?
January 14th, 2011 |If you have kids or are expecting, you are probably already familiar with many of the strollers available on the market. Now more than ever, it is vital that you keep a close eye on your children when you are out and about, and as such you want to know that when you pay for a stroller you are getting something that is safe and exceptional. Joovy is one such stroller company worth looking at.
All About Joovy
Joovy is a US-based company with facilities in Texas and California. They are a family-run company that has been around the block a few times and they know their stuff. Joovy makes some of the best “family gear” products out there. They make more than just a wide array of strollers; they also make car seats, high chairs, playpens and more.
They make a wide variety of strollers to fit any family’s need and budget, such as:
- Jogging strollers
- Single strollers
- Double strollers
- Triple strollers
The Caboose
All of their variety aside, one of Joovy’s most popular strollers is the Caboose double stroller. The standard Joovy Caboose stroller comes in one of seven different stylish colors, has a comfortable two-position (front and rear) seat that can accommodate kids from six months to 45 pounds, an oversized canopy with a sun visor extension, a removable tray and car seat adapter, and an under-seat elastic storage basket. The standard Caboose runs for around $150.
There are also different variations on the Caboose. First there is the Ergo Caboose, which has a more rigid front canopy for withstanding wind and an improved twin piston front suspension that runs for around $400. Next there is the Caboose Ultralight that features three inclining positions for the front seat, a larger storage basket replete with side pockets, and 4-wheel suspension and linked rear brakes. The Ultralight sells for about $270.
Finally, there is the Big Caboose, which is actually a triple stroller for holding three children. The Big Caboose has everything that the standard Caboose has for three children, including 2-position incline for the front seats, an expanded storage basket, and removable trays and adapters for car seats.
At the end of the day, you really can’t go wrong with any of the aforementioned Cabooses. Joovy is a company wholly dedicated to child transportation and care, or “family gear” as they put it. As such, they know what they are doing and are always looking for ways to improve upon their designs. They use innovation and customer feedback to craft some of the best strollers on the market.
Even if you only have one child and don’t (yet) require the Caboose, you can bet that Joovy’s single child strollers will be just as trustworthy. They have strollers that appeal to every budget, and the best thing about their strollers is that they last. We all know how hard kids can be on strollers, so it’s good to see a company put some thought into designing a stroller than can take the wear and tear.

Round Table Pizza Coupons
January 14th, 2011 |Round Table Pizza Coupons Printable 2011
Round Table Pizza is a big chain of pizza restaurants in the Western US, with more than 500 stores spread across Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. Founded in 1959, the “King Arthur” theme of Round Table Pizza didn’t take hold until the early 60s. Now, the “three shield” logo and “King Arthur” design are a big part of the aesthetic of Round Table Pizza–the restaurants are easy to pick out of a crowd, with their unique look. Round Table Pizza is an international success as well, with two restaurants open in Dubai.
Round Table Pizza sells fairly standard pizza, with names like Guinivere’s Garden Delight” and “Montague’s All Meat Marvel” standing in for traditional pizza names. Depending on the location, both delivery and eat-in options are available.
To save a little dough at Round Table Pizza, check online for coupons and coupon codes you can use when ordering your favorite Round Table pizza item. Here are some places to start your search.
Online Round Table Pizza Coupons
Round Table Pizza hosts coupons on their own website though the coupons you have access to depends mostly on the Round Table location you plan on ordering from. Different franchise locations offer and accept different coupons, everything from a “buy a pizza get one pizza free” deal to offers of free extra toppings, sodas, and other menu items. Check the site every time before you order from Round Table, since these coupons get updated pretty regularly.
Round Table Pizza coupons are available at third-party coupon sites like RetailMeNot though there are sometimes very few deals to be found. Your basic “dollar-off” and “buy-one-get-one” deals are the most common, though even these are extremely limited in terms of their expiration dates and restaurant locations that accept them. Still, if you want to save some cash at Round Table Pizza, checking a third-party coupon site takes just a few seconds and you might be able to save a buck.
Round Table Pizza Email Newsletter
If you want to get regular coupon offers and updates from Round Table pizza (including seasonal changes to the menu and new locations opening) you can sign up for something called My Round Table. Signing up is easy online and all they company asks for is your name, email, and a phone number. Betty Crocker is a huge brand of food products and other grocery items now owned by the General Mills company. Making everything from cakes and frostings to gravy and chili mixes, Betty Crocker’s logo (the company name superimposed over a spatula) is one of the more widely recognized brands in the world.
There was never a Betty Crocker–the name was invented by the owners of the Gold Medal Flour company as a way to signletters to customers, a name that just sounds like a person who knows how to cook. These days, the name Betty is not as common as it once was, but everyone knows who (or what) Betty Crocker is.

It costs nothing to join–simply enter the membership information and you’ll have instant access to hundreds of different coupons for Betty Crocker products. These are manufacturer’s coupons, so almost any retail setting will accept them.
The types of coupons you get from your Betty Crocker online coupon membership vary, but are generally good for a few cents off different Betty Crocker products, as much as a dollar off different items. These coupons rotate pretty often, and are only good for a specific amount of time, so checking in at the Betty Crocker coupon site is a good idea. As soon as you join, you’ll have immediate access to almost $30 in Betty Crocker coupon savings.
Outside of these coupons directly from the manufacturer, finding valid online coupons for Betty Crocker products is a bit tough. Betty Crocker has a tight grip on their coupon program, so coupon codes you might find at a third-party coupon site like RetailMeNot are probably not valid coupons. In fact, as of this writing, the only valid coupons for Betty Crocker found at third-party coupon sites are invitations to join the manufacturer’s coupon program.
Betty Crocker, as part of the massive General Mills company, keeps their coupon promotions in-house. Besides retail coupons from stores that sell Betty Crocker products, your best bet for finding online coupons for Betty Crocker grocery items is to join the manufacturer’s program and check it before you go to the grocery store.

Fast Food Coupons
January 14th, 2011 |Fast Food Coupons to Print
Fast food used to mean 99-cent burgers and cheap milkshakes–now we have any number of “gourmet to go” fast food environments, serving award-winning cheeseburgers with high-grade beef and other fancy ingredients. Sure, you can still order from dollar menus and find other bargains at fast food joints, but according to the National Restaurant Association, the average fast food bill is just above $8, a far cry from the fifteen-cent hamburgers that McDonald’s sold when they first opened. Thankfully, there are fast food coupons online that you can print and take with you to save money at the drive-thru.
“Fast food” is a name applied to a wide range of restaurants, from the standard hamburger and fries to breakfastsandwiches, fried chicken to roast beef sandwiches. It doesn’t matter what type of food you’re buying–if the service is meant to be fast, it is “fast food.” Known in the restaurant industry as QSRs (quick service restaurants), these eateries make money on volume, getting as many people in and out of the doors as possible.

Online Fast Food Coupons 2011
The first place to look for fast food coupons is at the fast food restaurant’s own website.
Every fast food restaurant worth its grease has an online presence–and even if your favorite fast food joint isn’t a national chain and doesn’t have a national website, they probably have a Facebook or Twitter page to interact with their fans. Coupons are profitable for the restaurant–a coupon for a free order of fries or a soda will convince lots of people to walk into a place they’ve never tried. That’s why you can find coupons on fast food restaurant’s websites. For example, Chik-fil-a (a chicken joint with a cult-like following) often rotates different coupons on their website, or everything from buy-one-get-one free deals to dollars off your meal. The best thing about coupons hosted at fast food websites is that you can print them out and use them as often as you want.
When you follow your favorite fast food spots on social media, you often get the first announcement or release of a new coupon. Fast food restaurants put coupons up on their social media pages all the time–the buzz they get from people linking to the deal is worth it all on its own. Following McDonald’s or Wendy’s on Facebook and Twitter can save you money in the form of online coupons and exclusive deals.
Fast Food Email Newsletter Coupons
Many fast food joints have “email clubs” or email newsletters that you can sign up for free of charge. For the price of your email address (and maybe your home address) you can get coupons in your mailbox or in your email whenever the company releases one, usually about once a month. These newsletters are mostly junk–information on new franchises opening and new menu items–but there’s almost always a coupon in the newsletter. You can print out this coupon and use it as many times as you want during the promotional period, and it didn’t cost you a cent to find it. Having your favorite fast food restaurants send you coupons for free is about as easy as it gets.
Enjoying a fast food burger is more expensive than ever, but using free online fast food coupons takes the edge off a bit. When you find an online coupon or promotion for fast food, take advantage of it as soon as possible, because most of these deals are extremely time-sensitive, limited to just a few weeks. Follow social media sites, check out third-party coupon sites, and check your favorite fast food restaurant’s websites as often as possible to save the most money with fast food coupons.

Aveeno Coupons
January 13th, 2011 |Aveeno Coupons Printable
Aveeno was founded in 1945, originally selling a single product–a “soothing bath treatment.” Aveeno is known for selling bath and beauty products made from all-natural ingredients. Aveeno is now a subsidiary of pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson.
Aveeno sells beauty products and products to treat specific skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, chicken pox, hives, and sunburn. People like Aveeno products because of the all-natural ingredients. Their popular hand and body lotions are oat-based, hence the name Aveeno which comes from the Latin word for common oat. Colloidal oatmeal is the most common natural ingredient in Aveeno. A big downside of Aveeno’s all-natural products are their high cost. Other lotions and beauty products are much cheaper due to the fac that they use more chemicals and less
natural additives. But using coupons and promotional deals for Aveeno products turns these high-end lotions into items that cost more like everyday beauty products.
Aveeno coupons are available as promotional codes, online coupons, printable coupons, and coupons you can tear out of advertising circulars. Manufacturer’s coupons are not as common as Aveeno fans would like, but using coupon gathering websites and other discount websites and deals can help you save cash on the all natural lotions and beauty products you need.
Online Aveeno Coupons 2011
The first place to look for Aveeno coupons is Aveeno.com, the manufacturer’s website. Different deals are available there at different times of the year–in the past year, Aveeno has offered free samples just for entering your address on the website as well as dollar-off coupons for various Aveeno products. These coupons are easy to use–just print them out and find the Aveeno product in your local retail store.
Johnson & Johnson offers their own discount and coupon program. Sign up at the Johnson & Johnson website for special deals only available through the company’s website and promotional program. Occasionally, these coupons are good for Aveeno products, though you’ll have to sift through a ton of deals before you find Aveeno-specific coupons.
You can save a lot of money on Aveeno products by shopping online through Drugstore.com. You don’t even need a coupon to save cash on Drugstore.com’s deals–they have special discounted Aveeno products occasionally. Check the website from time to time to see if there’s an Aveeno deal being offered. As of this writing. Drugstore.com is offering between 5-20% off the manufacturer’s price on much-loved Aveeno lotions and other products.
Other Aveeno Promotions & Deals
If you’ve never checked out third-party coupon websites like Coupons.com or RetailMeNot.com you may not realize that there are lots of coupons and promo codes outside of the realm of manufacturer’s offers that can help you save money on the Aveeno products you already buy. These sites work by letting the site’s members post coupon deals they’ve found. Since these deals change all the time, you should check the site as often as you shop.
Aveeno products cost more than the competition, and because of this many people just buy the store-brand Aveeno “knock-off”, but when you really want Aveeno lotions or need an Aveeno product to treat a skin disorder, no substitute will do. Use printable coupons and promotional deals to save cash on Aveeno products no matter where you buy them.

Top 5 Reasons You Need a Home Safe
January 10th, 2011 |In recent years, bank consolidations and closings have been in abundance. Today, the safest place to keep your valuable belongings is right in your own home. However, with the risk of burglary, fire and water damage, one cannot be carefree about where they store documents, cash, media files, firearms, jewelry and other valuables. To guarantee your belongings, you just can’t rely on a bank anymore, you need a home safe for a few different reasons.
1. Everyone Owns Valuables – You don’t have to be hoarding tons of cash and jewels to need a safe. Everyone has things of value that they would be lost without if something happen and they were gone. This could be an old heirloom, your child’s first tooth or locket of hair or other meaningful items that can never be replaced. Not to mention, mortgage papers, tax returns and insurance documents should all be kept somewhere safe.
2. Insurance Break – Could you use a little break in your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance policy? Today, most people are searching for ways to minimize expenses from anywhere they can find, a home safe could free up a little spending money for you. Many insurance companies look favorably on a policy holder who has a home safe because they know valuables are tucked away.
3. Safety – Many people have firearms in their home. This may be just one small handgun for an added level of protection or a whole collection of shotguns for hunting. Firearms and ammunition should always be kept locked up. You never know when they can be stolen and if you happen to have children in your home you need to be aware of the high number of unnecessary fatal accidents that occur every year because guns weren’t kept secure. If you have firearms in your home, you should look at the extensive selection of Gardall safes designed for this purpose.
4. Tragedy Can Happen to Anyone – It doesn’t matter how small or large your home is, how often you check batteries in your smoke alarms or the fact that you double bolt your door when you leave, tragedy can strike anyone. Any home can be a victim to a burglary, fire or even flooding, in some areas. Most people, think about buying a safe but don’t realize how much they need one until it’s too late.
5. Peace of Mind – How many times do you think about your belongings being safe when you’re not home? When you wake up from a noise outside does your heart race thinking of where your valuables are in the house if there’s a burglar outside? When you have a home safe, you know your important documents and belongings are locked away so these are never thoughts you need to concern yourself with. You’ll probably find that you actually sleep a little better too.
There isn’t a home or a family that doesn’t need and deserve a home safe. You have things of value that can never be replaced if tragedy strikes and you never get a second chance to rewind time so you can be better prepared.
About the Author; Richard Hoppers and his wife Suzanne live in North Texas. He is well-educated on safes for residential and business use and recommends them due to the high number of bank closings. When Richard isn’t spending time backpacking with friends and family in southwestern Colorado, he devotes his attention to helping others become more aware of why they need a safe for their personal belongings. Visit his site for knowledgeable information pertaining to Gardall and FireKing safes.
What Is a Food Processor?
January 9th, 2011 |You probably have at least a vague idea what a food processor is. The name is pretty self-explanatory, but if you are new to the kitchen you may not know all the things a food processor can do. Another question that often crops up is: what is the difference between a food processor and a blender? Well, here we will endeavor to answer your questions.
A Little History…
If you don’t own a food processor, you know what a pain it is to have to chop, mix and shred a lot of food (especially if you have a large family to cook for). So you can imagine what a nuisance it was for caterers and restaurant chefs to prepare foods in such a manner for the amount of people they serve before the invention of the food processor. Pierre Vurdun, a salesman for a French catering company, witnessed this firsthand and produced the first simple food processor – a bowl with a blade in it. By 1960, Robot-Coupe had evolved; a company that made food processors for caterers. In the late 60s, induction motors were introduced in food processors. But it wasn’t until the 70s that domestic food processors were made available. Carl Sontheimer introduced the Magimix 1800 to the United States in 1973 under the Cuisinart brand.
But What Does a Food Processor Do? – Food Processor Uses
Like many people, you’ve probably gone into your local home goods store and marveled at all the small appliances and kitchen gadgets. A lot of it simply looks cool, but you have no idea how you’d use half of it. A food processor, however, is an appliance that has so many uses that it is nearly indispensible once you get the hang of it. A food processor can:
- Chop and slice fruits and vegetables
- Grind meat, nuts, and seeds
- Grate or shred cheese and vegetables
- Mix and knead dough
- Puree
So yes, you can do many of this stuff by hand but it is a terrible pain. The powerful motor that drives your average food processor really does all the work for you, and you don’t need any liquids present like you do with a blender. You’ll have no sore hands to worry about and no fear about cutting yourself with your knife while chopping. Modern food processors have safety features like automatic shut-off when the bowl is off the base and a feed tube that allows you to add food while processing without endangering your fingers.
Cuisinart was indeed the first brand of food processors domestically available in the United States and actually many people simply call food processors “cuisinarts.” While it is a misnomer, it gives you some idea about how important the brand is in the food processor industry. Though they’ve branched out into many different kitchen appliances, Cuisinart remains dedicated to their quality food processors. You’ll come across a lot of different brands if you’re in the market for a food processor, but don’t be fooled by imitators. Don’t waste your money on a cheap knock-off with a brand name you’ve never even heard of. Stick with a company you know and trust like Cuisinart.

Burger Street Coupons
January 7th, 2011 |Burger Street Coupons Online in 2011
With just 20 locations in Dallas, Texas and Tulsa, Oklahoma it doesn’t get much more “regional” than a restaurant like Burger Street. This burger joint doesn’t have the huge cult following of a Five Guys or the advertising budget of a Burger King, but in neighborhoods where Burger Street exists, it would be difficult for another burger joint to thrive. That’s because Burger Street’s burger are bigger than other fast food chains’ offerings, their menu is more inclusive than a place like McDonald’s, and at some locations they pump the smell of the burgers out into the street.
The menu at Burger Street is about what you’d expect from an old-fashioned American greasy spoon–burgers, fries, sandwiches, hot dogs, salads, and dessert items. Prefer curly fries or tater tots to the dried out strips of potato that pass for “fries” at other joints? Burger Street’s got

those, too.
Fans of Burger Street know that this chain loves to put out coupons, and in a city like Dallas (where there are 17 Burger Street franchises altogether) finding a Burger Street coupon is as easy as walking into the restaurant and ripping one off a flyer.
Here are some other ways to find coupons for Burger Street.
Printable Online Burger Street Coupons
Burger Street offers coupons right on their website–a rolling lineup of coupons and promotions meant to push certain menu items. Currently, you can print out a coupon for $1 off four different combo meals. You can print these coupons out as often as you want, but you can only use one per visit. Since Burger Street is a small chain, the coupons you print off the website are good at any of their 20-something locations.
If you sign up for the Burger Street newsletter, either on the website or in one of the restaurants, you’ll get news about new store openings, new promotions, and (best of all) a coupon or two every month. The newsletter is available as an email or as a physical piece of mail that comes to your mailbox.
2011 Burger Street Deals
For many of the promotional menu items at Burger Street you don’t need a coupon to save cash. Burger Street sells a $0.99 hot dog and $1 sweet tea every day of the year–a good snack for less than $2. No coupon necessary–drive through or order in the restaurant any time of year.
Occasionally, a third-party coupon host like 8coupons.com will offer a Burger Street printable coupon, but usually these are just links to the coupons available at the company’s website. Still, searching a third-party site is a good way to keep track of the current deals Burger Street is offering.
If you find yourself in Dallas or Tulsa and you have a hankering for a (fast and cheap) burger, keep these coupon ideas and deals in mind and pull through a Burger Street rather than one of the other big name burger joints. Burger Street has all the charm of a small chain with the convenience of a fast food outlet.

Burger King Coupons
January 7th, 2011 |Burger King Coupons 2011
If you don’t know the name Burger King you’re in the vast minority. The second-largest fast food chain in America (second only to rival McDonald’s) is a household name. With over 40,000 full-time employees and thousands more part-time workers, there’s probably a Burger King restaurant within a stone’s throw of your front porch.
Burger King is constantly making changes, including serving beer at some of their thousands of American franchises. With Burger King restaurants in 75 countries around the world, you can find the familiar smells and tastes of Burger King pretty much anywhere you go in the world.
Because there are so many Burger King restuarants in the world, you can find Burger King coupons pretty easily. There are almost always some coupons available in-store, printed on the material and packaging that comes with your meal. Simply asking a Burger King worker for coupons when you place your order usually nets you a couple of coupons. But by far the easiest way to save cash at Burger King is finding printable coupons online.

Printable Burger King Coupons 2011
Check out the third party coupon site 8coupons.com–unlike other coupon sites, 8coupons matches your location with
deals available at Burger King locations near you. That way you can be sure that your Burger King deal will be honored at the location you visit. For example, in my area right now I can find a free kid’s meal offer and a $1 off specific sandwiches.
Other coupon sites occasionally host Burger King coupons, though the company’s policy appears to be to control all coupons and distribute them officially from the company. That’s why “friending” or “liking” Burger King on Facebook and
Twitter can be profitable. You can get exclusive coupons and find out about new promotions by keeping track of Burger King’s social networking sites.
Other Burger King Deals
Burger King franchises almost always work hand in hand with a local charity or school group to distribute coupons as part of school fundraisers, charity auctions, and other events. It is common to find Burger King discounts in “coupon books” sold by church and school groups, and as more and more Burger King restaurants move into college campuses and even high school lunch rooms, coupons for Burger King menu items are even more common.
Burger King commonly offers deals on their menu items–these “seasonal” discounts are available without a coupon and change pretty regularly. Right now, most Burger King franchises in America are offering a “buy one get one” deal on chicken sandwiches, and this deal will probably change sometime in the next few months to another “buy one get one” deal or a simple dollar-off offer.
Burger King is popular among a certain set of people–those who are disappointed by McDonald’s or simply prefer the style of french fries and patties at BK restaurants. Where you find a Burger King, you may find a nearby McDonald’s, and some people choose their burger joint based exclusively on the size of the drive-thru line. Now that you’re armed with Burger King coupon ideas, you can pick Burger King for the good deals you found either through printable online coupons or other Burger King deals.

What Is a Wood Router?
January 6th, 2011 |What Is a Wood Router?
If you’ve ever delved at all into the realm of woodworking you’ve probably come across the term “router.” No, this has nothing to do with wireless Internet service. In the world of woodworking, the term “router” means something entirely different. So just to clarify things a bit for everyone, let’s take a look at wood routers and explain what they do.
An Essential Woodworking Tool
A wood router is a tool used by pattern makers and those who make wooden staircases to make intricate cuts in lengths of wood. The typical router consists of a plane with a blade projecting beyond it for cutting the routes desired. While early routers were of course hand-powered, most wood routers you’ll find today are electric. Many woodworkers still insist that hand routers are superior for more refined woodworking, but for large-scale jobs the electric routers definitely come out on top.
There are many different types of electric routers, but no matter the type you will find they all have some things in common:
- The router unit itself
- A cutting tool or bit (with different types, such as fluted, profile, and helical)
- A guide template
The cutting tools and bits are what give routers their versatility. There are literally hundreds of different kinds of bits that allow woodworkers to craft a mind-boggling amount of variety in their craft.
Different Types of Router
Despite the myriad uses of a standard router, there has still been advancement in the field that allows for even more uses. First, let’s talk about the spindle router. Basically, you’re looking at a vertically mounted electric motor with a collet (for holding the tools) on its shaft. You can adjust the bit for height and you control the router by holding onto the handles (often called D-handles because of their shape) on the side.
The spindle router breaks down even further into two types: the plunge-base router and the fixed-base router. The difference between the two lies in when the depth of the cut is set. With a plunge-base router, you lower the cutter onto the wood and adjust the depth manually, whereas with the fixed-base router the depth is set beforehand. The plunge-base router is considered a more refined tool, but the fixed-base router is often quicker and easier for novices to use.
There are also table-mounted routers that essentially turn the router upside-down and allow you to pass the wood over the router, rather than suspending the router over the wood. Such routers are often better for smaller jobs and considered safer by many.
What has been presented here represents just the very basic facts about wood routers. Though there has been a lot of variation discussed, we’ve really only scratched the surface. The amount of variable bits is simply staggering, and there are new bits created every day. You can also buy accessories that allow you to use your router as a different kind of woodworking tool, such as a bench top shaper or portable plane. The sky is the limit when you are working with a wood router.
About the Author: Mike Rocha is an engineer from Florida with a passion for woodworking. As an engineer and hobbyist woodworker, he uses wood routers regularly and recognizes the ingenuity and versatility that they represent. Being an electrical engineer who designs and develops medical imaging systems, Mike appreciates more than most the ingenious simplicity of these tools. Check out his website if you are looking for the best wood router for your project or if you are looking for router tables for sale.

Braums Coupons
January 6th, 2011 |Braums Coupons 2011
What started as a small milk and dairy farm in Emporia, Kansas during the 1930s has become a name synonymous with delicious ice cream. Braums currently owns hundreds of acres of “the best farmland in America” where they raise their dairy cows to produce ice cream and other dairy products. Though Braums is only available in Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri, towns that do have a Braums franchise are full of people who go nuts for Braums milk and ice cream products.
Since Braums is a very regional restaurant, coupons can be hard to come by. With a little luck and a little elbow grease, you can save money on your Braums purchases, and there’s even a program that your kids can sign up for whereby the earn free treats for reading books. Here are some other ideas for how to save money on the ice cream and dairy you buy at Braums.
Online Braums Coupons
There’s lots of different ways to save on your Braums purchases. Third party bargain hunting sites like CampusFood.com

often have Braums coupons that you can simply print out and bring to the store with you for your next purchase. Another third-party coupon option is a site like RetailMeNot that depends partly on the input from other users to identify coupons and other deals available at local Braums Ice Cream and Dairy stores.
Braums’ “Book Buddy” program gives free ice cream to students who read books. Learn about the program here on the
Braums website. Basically, if your school is already on the list, your kid’s teacher signs a piece of paper saying that the student has read six books–for every six books the kid reads, he or she can get a coupon for a free treat from Braums, no purchase necessary.
Printable Braums Coupons
It can be difficult to find printable coupons for the Braums ice cream and dairy products you love. This is partly because Braums is a regional name (and not a national chain) and partly because of the business model Braums uses. Their prices on dairy and ice cream are already much lower than at the grocery store, so it seems Braums prefers to give customers overall discounts on menu items rather than specific coupons.
Having said that, if you have a good eye you can sometimes find printable Braums coupons online. The best way to do this is to search sites like 8coupons.com or ultimatecoupons.com for Braums deals. They do pop up from time to time–and most of the time, you’ll find coupon codes for purchases directly from the Braums website rather than a printable coupon for use in-store.
Braums milk and ice cream products just taste better than what you buy in the grocery store, and though their fans are more than a little miffed that you can no longer simply order milk right from the drive-thru, Braums will always have a loyal following of people who like quality milk products and don’t want to pay inflated grocery prices.

Benihana Coupons
January 5th, 2011 |Benihana Coupons
The Benihana craze started in the mid 1960s in Miami, Florida. Nearly fifty years ago Americans were not all that familiar with Japanese food–if you knew anything about food from Japan back then, you probably thought of it as “raw fish”, gagged, and went on your way to the next hamburger joint.
When the first Benihana opened its doors in 1964, no one knew anything about “teppanyaki-style” food–food that is cooked tableside on a hot grill. Now, the concept of tableside cooking seems so perfectly American, and many restaurants have opened up imitating what started in the 60s with Benihana. Over the past 45 years of doing business, Benihana has opened franchises in nine different countries around the world, and the company reports they have served over 100 million meals. That’s a lot of shrimp.
The concept behind Benihana is to give customers a good meal and a good show–the restaurant trains their hibachi chefs to put on a performance with the food they’re cooking. You pick your seafood, meats, and vegetables and through a combination of knife tricks and sleight of hand, the chefs entertain as they slice and dice. But Benihana isn’t all grilled food–you can eat sushi or other menu items, and there’s a kids’ menu as well.
Benihana is usually reserved for special occasions–like champagne or fine chocolate, most Americans only go to Benihana for a graduation, a birthday, anniversary, or some other major event. But Benihana doesn’t have to be so expensive that you eat there just once a year–get a discount on your next tableside meal by using a Benihana printable coupon. They’re available all over the Internet and in a few other sources, too.
Printable Benihana Coupons
There are Benihana coupons available online that you can print out and use at your leisure. Not just coupons, but online promotional offers, social media-exclusive discounts, and news about special deals at Benihana restaurants–all are
available when you sign up for Benihana’s Chef’s Table program. Like a VIP Club, you go to the Benihana website, click on the Chef’s Table icon on the homepage, and fill out the short membership form. All you need to give up are your first and last name, email address, local Benihana location, and your date of birth. You get a coupon instantly delivered to your email inbox, a monthly newsletter about deals and new restaurant items, and a special coupon on your birthday.
Other 2011 Benihana Coupons
As always, you should search the third-party coupon websites like RetailMeNot and Coupons.com for printable coupons and other deals good for money off your meal, low-cost gift certificates, special menu items, and other deals. These specials change regularly, so as you plan your next Benihana trip, keep your eyes peeled online for new coupon offers.
One last place you can sometimes find Benihana coupons is in your area newspaper. At certain times of the year (the weeks leading up to New Year’s Eve for instance) the local Benihana franchise will often put coupon offers right in the advertising section of the paper to drum up business.
Benihana is more than just a Japanese restaurant, it is an American tradition. Using printable coupons to make your next Benihana experience cheaper is a great way to enjoy the food and flashy knife show that Benihana offers.

The Bob Evans restaurants we know and love today have an extensive menu made up of “homestyle” food that is affordable on almost any budget. Bob Evans has a few ”signature” foods,
like the “Rise and Shine” breakfast combo and Bob Evans own line of sausage, sausage gravy, and biscuits. You can also find diner style food, like salads, sandwiches, steak burgers, and even dessert. Boston Market Coupons
January 4th, 2011 |Printable Online Boston Market Coupons
Founded in the mid-80s in Colorado, Boston Market has grown to include over 500 franchise locations across the country. The restaurant started as a rotisserie chicken chain, offering an alternative to the fried chicken fast food joints then popping up all over the country.
Boston Market’s expanded menu now includes turkey, chicken, and other “dinner” entrees like meatloaf along with a variety of side items like classic mashed potatoes or corn prepared a few different ways. You can also buy frozen meals made by Boston Market right there in the restaurant, and at many Boston Market franchises, you can have your pick of deli-style sandwiches, salads, and soups. This is considered the “lunch portion” of the menu. If you have a bundle of people to feed, look for Boston Market’s “Family Meals” that are designed to feed large numbers of people.
Boston Market Printable Coupons 2011

Boston Market is one of those restaurants that offers a company-sponsored coupon right on their website. Yes, your selection is limited to just one coupon for every couple of months (right now it is for $1 off any $10 or larger purchase) but you can print out and use the Boston Market official website-sponsored coupon as many times as you want during the valid period.
Besides the coupon they sponsor on their website, Boston Market is a huge purveyor of coupons. The company had very public trouble making cash in the last twenty years, and after being purchased by McDonalds, the company started offering more coupons. They also changed their menu considerably, moving away from a rotisserie chicken based menu on the small side and towards a more diverse selection.
You can find printable Boston Market coupons from time to time in local advertising mailers–these deals are usually similar to the offer of $1 off a $10 purchase found on their website, and are usually only good for a single franchise location in your area.
Boston Market coupons are not generally available at third-party coupon sites online. Boston Market has a firm grip on their advertising and coupon lineup and it can be difficult to find coupons for the rotisserie chicken you’re craving outside of official Boston Market promotions and deals.
Boston Market VIP Club
Like most restaurants these days, Boston Market offers coupons and special promotions to people who join their VIP Club. Simply register for the club with your name and email address on the Boston Market website and you’ll be given a coupon good for $3 off your next purchase of $10 or more. This is $2 more than the deal they offer the general public, and every month after you join you’ll get an email with a new offer for specific menu items or “dollar off” deals good at most Boston Market franchises.

What Is a Walkie Talkie Headset?
January 3rd, 2011 |What Is a Walkie Talkie Headset?
The walkie talkie headset is a combination of old-school walkie talkie tech and modern wireless style. Traditional walkie talkies are handheld transceiver devices used by kids across short ranges on up to massive commercial and military-grade devices that can communicate across great distances.
The old battery-operated kid’s walkie talkie sets from my childhood are not really around anymore. These days, walkie talkie headsets use simple software to turn a mobile phone or other smartphone device into hand-held transceivers with headsets for ease of use. These types of walkie talkie headsets turn your cell phone into a walkie talkie, then use Bluetooth technology to operate via headset.
Benefits of Using Walkie Talkie Headsets

There’s lots of reasons why people may want to switch to a walkie talkie headset communication system.
Walkie talkie headsets using Bluetooth with their mobile phone take advantage of Bluetooth’s noise-cancellation features, making for easier and clearer communication.
This same Bluetooth technology can even link with other non-Bluetooth devices (like PCs or laptops) using Skype. This makes communication across platforms really easy.
When two Bluetooth-enable walkie talkie headsets are linked together, you get instant two-way communication inside a 250 thousand square foot zone. This is a huge range for walkie talkie headset communication, exponentially bigger than old-school walkie talkie tech.
As technology improves, companies are looking to expand the scope of this system so that up to five users can be in this walkie talkie zone at once, so instant communication between five users across a wide area is as easy as using your walkie talkie headset.
This setup is ideal for companies that have employees spread out across large areas who need to communicate instantly–school administrators, construction foremen, and military officers are just some of the people using this type of Bluetooth walkie talkie headset tech to save time and money.
How Much do Walkie Talkie Headsets Cost?
The actual cost of your walkie talkie headset depends on the style, brand, and features you’re looking for. Here’s a good look at the range of prices for walkie talkie headsets.
At the low end of the scale are headsets designed for use with specific brands of walkie talkies. These cheaper headsets for walkie talkies aren’t usually Bluetooth capable and must be used with a specific walkie talkie line. Though they are inexpensive (Motorola has several models that retail for under $20) they have few features and aren’t Bluetooth capable.
You can spend as much money as you want on the higher end of Bluetooth-enabled walkie talkie headsets. Specific models designed for specific purposes (such as to fit inside motorcycle helmets) are the most expensive of all, and can run you several hundred dollars.
To determine how much money you’ll spend on your Bluetooth walkie talkie headset, figure out if you need it to be mounted in a specific way, such as in a vehicle or inside of safety equipment, determine how many headsets you need, and decide if you want any extra features such as noise-cancelling microphones or multiple-outlet charging stations. The more “extras” you’re after, the higher the price.
Walkie Talkie Headsets for Push to Talk
Since “push to talk” communication systems are growing in popularity, the use of walkie talkie headsets for these devices is also on the rise. You can find them produced by different manufacturers, though you’ll probably want to use a model that matches the walkie talkie or phone system you’re using.
These headsets are designed to be attached to any push to talk walkie-talkie unit. Simply connect the headset to the walkie talkie’s base unit and you’ll have hands-free access to the walkie-talkie. The microphone inside this unit lets you use your voice operated commands, so your use of your walkie talkie is completely hands free. Units like this are relatively inexpensive, so you won’t have to invest in a costly new headset to get your hands-free functionality.
It is common to see walkie talkies in use with headsets–people have seen them in action for a few years now, and they don’t think you’re talking to yourself anymore. Why are headsets more popular? The efficiency of the electronic guts of the devices has been increased, so the tech itself is actually smaller, cheaper to produce, and easier to use. As these headsets get smaller, cheaper, and easier to use, more and more people will be using walkie talkie headsets for their everyday communication.

What Are Viper Car Alarms?
January 3rd, 2011 |What Are Viper Car Alarms?
Stolen cars, broken windows, stolen stereo equipment–these are the results of not installing a car alarm. The FBI keeps national statistics on motor vehicle theft, and reports that there are about 1.2 million of these thefts nationwide every year. That’s about 3,300 vehicle thefts a day. The amount of money car owners lose in these thefts adds up, too–nearly $8 billion a year, or about $6,000 per incident.
Viper Car Alarms
Viper is a household name in the world of car alarms–who doesn’t remember their commercials in the 1980s, and the trademark line: “Viper armed!” While the snake shown in the commercials slithering out of the car and attacking a potential thief isn’t really part of the Viper security system, Viper sells a wide range of car alarms designed to protect your property.

Speaking of Viper in the 80s, that familiar voice comes to us from none other than Republican Representative Darrell Issa, who was once CEO of Directed Electronics, the company that produces Viper car alarms. Mr. Issa is still performing his elected duties, and is currently the wealthiest member of the House of Representatives. Mr. Issa made his fortune on Viper car alarms, which are still the most popular car alarm systems in America.
How Do Viper Car Alarms Work?
There are several different types of Viper car alarms, ranging from simple remote start devices all the way up to complete security systems with features like shock sensors, sirens, and engine kills.
Depending on the specific Viper car alarm you choose to install, what a potential thief will experience when the system is alarmed will differ.
In most cases, a bright blue flashing LED on your car’s dashboard or near the mirror will alert a thief to the presence of an alarm system. Most thieves will notice this and move on to an easier target. If the light isn’t enough to spook them, the window sticker that says “Viper” should do the trick.
If a thief ignores this visual signals, the Viper car alarm can be equipped with a system that detects any kind of impact to the vehicle’s exterior. Viper is currently promoting their “dual-stage Stinger DoubleGuard” impact sensor, sensitive enough to detect even a light touch. Depending on the size of the impact, the Viper car alarm will then either let loose a short series of chirps or the full blast of Viper’s patented “Revenger 6-Tone Siren”, one of the loudest in the industry.
Even if the thief you’re dealing with is experienced and has all the right tools, your Viper car alarm has something special to prevent him from getting your wheels. Every Viper security system now comes with a starter kill system that prevents “hot wiring”, a technique used by car thieves to gain control of your car.
Between the lights and stickers warning of the Viper system you’ve installed, the shock sensor, very loud siren, and starter kill device, you have four distinct layers of protection against auto theft.
Viper Car Alarm Warranty and Guarantee
Since Viper is the number one aftermarket alarm company in the world, they offer a great warranty and guarantee program. All installed Viper car alarm systems are covered by a limited lifetime warranty that is good for the original owner of the original car it is installed on. For details on what is covered by this limited warranty, talk to your installer.
Viper’s Guaranteed Protection Plan (known as GPP to manufacturers) gives your car recently upgraded with a Viper car alarm an extra bit of protection. If your car is stolen with a Viper system installed and armed within one year of installation, Viper will refund your comprehensive auto insurance deductible up to $2,500. There are some other conditions that exist too–such as that the theft must take place within 60 miles of the city where you live. For more details on the GPP, check with the manufacturer or your installer.
Other Viper Security Features
When you think of car security, you probably imagine that annoying car alarm sound. The truth is, car security systems are much more than just alarms.
Remote start–Viper remote start systems prepare your vehicle before you get in, allowing you to keep the doors locked and the car turned off as long as you want before entering your car. How is remote start a security feature? In a dark or empty parking lot, the security you get from having your car automatically opened and running can’t be beat–you don’t have to fumble with keys or rush to get in your car should someone be following you.
Programmable voice system–This is maybe the most famous part of any Viper security system. These devices will play a preprogrammed voice message, either recorded by the car’s owner or a stock message provided by Viper. Adding a voice command to the siren increases the intensity of the car’s alarm itself. Imagine trying to steal a car and hearing the powerful Viper sirens AND a loud voice saying “Please step away from the car” or some other tough-guy message. A powerful deterrent in its own right, the programmable voice system increases the effectiveness of all other parts of the Viper car alarm system.
Field disturbance sensors–These days, car thieves can break into your garage and steal your car right out from under your noise. Viper offers field disturbance sensors that can detect “code grabbing” devices used to breakthrough automatic garage door security measures–when such a device is found, the Viper car alarm system is tripped.
Viper car alarms were once something of a cliché–their commercials were everywhere and very recognizable. While Viper’s founder has moved on to bigger and better things, his voice will forever be immortalized in Viper car alarms. Since Viper is the number one aftermarket car alarm system in the world, installing a Viper is the best way to get peace of mind about your car.

What Is a Whole House Surge Protector?
January 3rd, 2011 |What Is a Whole House Surge Protector?
With home computers now as common as washers and dryers, the electronic devices in our home that are vulnerable to electric surges and damage are even more important. Your family keeps all sorts of important documents on the computer, from financial details to photographs and music collections. As more and more electronic devices are added to a home, the necessity for protection against electric surges increases. A whole house surge protector acts like a giant version of the familiar surge protector strip we see every day–preventing stray electric charges from enter the home and destroying valuable electronics.
What Are Electric Surges?

Power surges are nothing more than brief spikes in voltage, usually lasting a millionths of a second or even less, and aren’t always noticeable to the human eye. Because some power surges are stronger than others (anywhere from a few hundred volts to several thousand volts) the damage caused by surges ranges from mild to severe.
In the United States, most of use the same kind of electricity system running on a 120-volt, 60 Hz, alternating current. Since it is an alternating current, the voltage rises and falls, changing from anywhere from 0 to a max voltage of 169 volts. The electronics in your home are designed to withstand this alternating current, but during a power surge, the voltage peaks above that voltage range. If your electronic devices are not protected, they could be damaged.
In some extreme cases, electric surges lead to fires that threaten the entire home. Surges can be dangerous business.
Causes of Electric Surges
Lightning strikes are the most common causes of damaging electric surges. A surge can start with a single bolt of lightning striking a building or even near a building. The electric current of the lightning then travels into the building or home through underground pipes or other municipal lines. That electric surge is looking for a place to ground itself, such as a computer that is plugged into an electrical outlet. This charge is usually strong enough to damage the computer. The damaged electronic device can even catch fire or damage anyone who may be touching it.
Another common source of electric surges is a simple stray electric charge. Surges in the general power supply, a down phone or power line, and even the simple act of turning a large appliance off or on can lead to electrical surges.
How Do I Protect My Home From Power Surges?
There are a few simple steps you can take to protect your home and the electrical appliances in it. Your first step is to make sure your home’s electrical system is adequately grounded. If your home is properly grounded, a power surge will never make it into your home. When a home is properly grounded, the surge doesn’t have a way in.
Grounding systems are normally installed during home construction or a major renovation. If you aren’t sure of your home’s grounding situation, contact an electrician for an evaluation. If you find your home is not adequately grounded, you’ll need to pay for the necessary repairs.
Unfortunately, simply grounding your home correctly won’t protect from all possible sources of electric surges. That’s where “whole house surge protectors” come in.
Installing a Whole House Surge Protector
Whole house surge protectors do what it sounds like they do–protect your home’s electronic equipment from the dangers of surges. You can have these products installed or tackle the surge protection of your house as a weekend project–you can even have your power company come and do all the installation for you.
Electrical surges are so dangerous that many power companies actually offer protection against surges to their customers. For an installation and maintenance fee, your power company will come out to your house and professionally install, test, and then maintain your whole house surge protector. A typical fee schedule for these “rented” whole house surge protectors would have the customer paying about $100 for the one-time maintenance fee then a low monthly fee, something like $4 or $5 a month.
Installing a Whole House Surge Protector
To install your brand new whole house surge protector, simply follow the instructions. Most units are about the same, meaning that the installation is pretty simple.
You’ll need two empty circuit breaker slots (one on top of the other) on your main power panel or load center.
The first step is to install two 20 amp circuit breakers in these empty slots–these will protect each power phase. You could use 15 amp breakers but they will give you much less protection. A big mistake some people make during this step is to install tandem breakers (also known as piggyback breakers)–if you do this, the breaker will draw power from only one phase and thus it will protect only some of your home’s electronics.
If you are even a little bit handy, you can install a whole house surge protector yourself. If you don’t feel comfortable working with electricity, call up an electrician.
Different Types of Whole House Surge Protectors
Not all whole house surge protectors are created equal. There are plenty of cheap models to be had that just don’t provide the amount of protection you’ll need. Generally, you get what you pay for, though whether or not your whole house surge protection program will work has more to do with proper installation than with the cost of the unit.
Some devices are “sacrificial,” meaning they are good for a single electrical jolt. These are less expensive surge protectors used as emergency backup or in homes that can’t afford more expensive systems. After an electrical surge, these sacrificial units will need to be replaced.
Still other units are massive, installed during construction, able to withstand any electric surges you can throw at them. The size of your budget and the number of important electronic devices there are in your home dictates what size and style of electric surge protector you need.
