I agree. This is not a political debate. But having sex with with a woman who works for you is not, “by definition”, sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is “unwelcome sexual behavior by a supervisor toward an employee”. So far there hasn’t been an allegation that his behavior was unwelcome.

Why is this a political debate? This asswipe is not a politician. He undoubtedly has a morals clause in his contract which he clearly violated. He had sex with women who work for him. By definition, that is sexual harrasment. Fire the bastard!

I believe that the American people can see the distinction between a Late Night jokester and a Politician who preaches one thing and lives another. And I also believe that the American people will have more compassionate than all the Republican social conservatives. Lets face it all Letterman was doing is what Levi Johnston was doing except that Bristol Palin got pregnant (birth control apparently was not discussed). Just because Sarah Palin tried to confuse people by saying that Letterman was referring to her youngest daughter, well we all know that was a lie. Let’s remember “Those who are not willing to give pardon and mercy are those that do not need pardon and mercy. By the way, who are we to cast stones?

Good point, Paul. I mentioned to my father-in-law last night that Letterman’s point in mocking the Palin family was the hypocrisy. If you wander around pointing the finger at people for “sinning” all the time, then you have to expect some criticism when you “sin”.

Letterman is fine; he never was the “Family Values” type. Yes, he probably cheated on his girlfriend now wife. But at least he does go around claiming he is Mr. “Family Values” like some of our politicians (can you just see the grin on all “Fake News” reporters/ commentators and the Palin fringe). This has been a tough summer, for Dave, for our economy but at least he did not end up on the “Republican 2009 Summer of Love” list: Assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC).

Should CBS fire Letterman?

According to this article at EW, http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2009/10/05/david-letterman-affairs-birkitt/, CBS doesn’t have a policy forbidding co-workers from having sex with each other, so it would seem that unless someone complains about something illegal (like sexual harassment), they should NOT fire Letterman.
