Will The Days of Ours Lives By Canceled Soon?
After an 18-month renewal in November 2008, Days of Our Lives is signed to continue on NBC until September 2010 , but there have been constant rumors of a cancellation since Guiding Light was canceled in September 2007. In fact, there were rumors at the time that The Days Of Our Lives would not survive 2009, at least before the renewal.
Declining ratings in the summer of 2007 made this seem a certainty, but changes in writers and an 11th-hour new contract seemed to save the show at the time. Rumors have continued to persist throughout 2009, though.
The Days Of Our Lives is now NBC’s only traditional soap opera, so the rumors are probably fueled by the logic that NBC might be getting out of the soap opera business. Rumors also suggest that The Days Of Our Lives could be picked up by another network (possibly ABC) if NBC were to cancel the show.
The Days Of Our Lives Picked Up By Another Network?
ABC still supports a number of soap operas, so it might be a good fit for The Days of Our Lives. Other speculation has centered on the soap opera being picked up by DirecTV, like Passions was when it was canceled. Most fans of The Days Of Our Lives would prefer the show to be aired on a big network like ABC, because they would be more likely to see the show in its traditional time slot and format.
The Days Of Our Lives – 44 Years & Counting
The Days of Our Lives has been on the air since 1965, originally being written and produced by Ted and Betty Corday. Corday & Co have remained involved in the production of the soap opera through much of its history, though Ted Corday died in 1966 and Betty Corday died in 1987.
Many soap opera watchers associate The Days Of Our Lives with the bizarre and sometimes supernatural storylines of the 1990′s, when Marlena was possessed by the Devil in a 1994-95 plotline and the “Cruise of Deception” storyline of 1990, which included the mad Ernesto Tuscano holding much of the cast captive on his cruise ship and set up many of the resulting off-kilter storylines of the 1990′s-era Days Of Our Lives broadcasts.
The 2000′s haven’t been nearly as strange, though masked psychopaths have turned up occasionally. One popular storyline revealed the beginnings of the Brady & DiMera Feud. Despite some high moments, ratings have declined and new writing and production teams have been brought in frequently. At one point in 2007, The Days Of Our Lives had the lowest ratings of any daytime soap opera.
The Days Of Our Lives – 2010 Cancellation Rumors
It’s possible The Days Of Our Lives will be canceled in 2010, given that it’s hard for NBC to sell advertising blocks for only one daytime soap. If ratings take a downturn again, that could prove the end for The Days Of Our Lives, too. But even if that happens, there’s a good chance that The Days Of Our Lives continues on with another network, and perhaps one willing to do what it takes to make DOOL a ratings success again.
So join letter writing campaigns to save The Days Of Our Lives if you want to, but know that a series cancellation isn’t always the end of the show.

I think Days of our lives is getting better. I hope they keep the show. I have only been watching for a couple of years, but I have stopped watching other soaps , cause just way to stupid and just not real.
I cant watch it on TV, but read the updates on the internet. This soap is a big deal for me since 1994, watching it, is how i learn english. I live in Guatemala.
Bring back more vets and the show will survive. Also have a twist in the roman brady and john black story
I’ve been watching Day’s since 1968. I hate to see it go. If NBC drops the soap. I want be watching what ever they replace it with. So it want help the channels ratings, no matter what they replace it with. I’ll just got to ABC and watch One life to live…
I have been watching Days of our Lives, since I was a little girl with my Grandma. I would be so so sad if it were to be canceled. I am really starting to enjoy the story line now that you are bringing back some of the older characters from the past. I love Bo and Hope always will, but come one how many times do you have to have them splitting up…I am so over that. Bring back Shaun and Bell to put some interst in the Bo and Hope family. The writers are definitely getting more creative, keep it up. I certainly cannot even imagine a day without my favorite story, “Day’s of Our Lives”

Been watching Days since 1966. A lot of characters have changed, but from personal opinion, James Scott and Allison Sweeney rock. Bring them together and the ratings will skyrocket.
I bought a portable TV and I watch Days at work, and when I’m not at work, I watch it at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 6 p.m. and again at 11 p.m., but that’s only if EJ/Sami is on. I fast forward through Rafe, Brady, Ari, Gabby, Will, Mia and Chad.
I also have watched “Days” since I was little with my grandmother (I am now 39!). I DVR it and watch it every night- it is my only alone time once I put my 4 little ones to bed. Please do not take that away!! Cannot imagine a day without my show!!
Recently read in Parade magazine that DOOL is being cancelled in September of 2010. I am sick about it. Have been a loyal viewer for 42 years and counting. (I hope) I am sick of reality shows taking over. Please don’t make getting older any tougher than it already is- PLEASE DON’T TAKE AWAY MY SHOW!!!!

They can’t cancel Days! I’ve been watching since the early 1980′s. I can understand other Soaps being cancelled, but not Days! It’s awesome! That’s why it’s been on since the late 60′s! That would just really suck.
I have watched Days since day one. They seem like family. I can’t imagine a day without Days. I wish Doug and Julie would come back permanently. The writers mean well but they don’t know how we all like to remember the Days gone by as well as the new Days. It makes me feel good just to hear McDonald Carry’s voice at the begining of the show. I stopped watching ABC when Guiding Light was cancelled and stopped buying Proctor and Gambles products. Days has been my favorite since I was a child so it won’t be hard to give up watching NBC. I don’t watch many shows so maybe I will be giving my television up soon because I don’t watch realty shows or game shows. I hope NBC doesn’t make this mistake. Maybe those fans in near the studio will protest like they did in the past when they thought the character Marlena was killed. Go fans.
I have been watching Days for a very long time and would hate to see it go. Please if NBC cant renew it I hope that another major network can pick it up. I remember watching Days with my mom when I was little. We would eat Stouffers Mac and cheese and watch. I remember when the whole Carrie, Austin, Lucas and Sammie drama was going on. (and lots of other drama too, lol) One of my favorite memories. Please, don’t cancel Days!
They cant cancel Days. They’ve been a second family to me since the 80′s. NBC won’t be the same without days. There’s no such thing of a perfect episode in any show or soap, but overall Days of our lives should be very proud of being around for this long. I really hope you add another 10 years to that…

I have been watching days of our lives since i was 5yrs old , I grew up with Shawn Douglas and all the others and the only reason i have comcast dvr is so that i can type days each and every day i think id be lost with out the show on air, so please don’t cancel the show now my little girl watches it and she is only 3yrs old and it would break her heart!!!!!
I’m 44, been watching with my mom forever. I work now, but love the DVR, I get to catch up and FF the commercials. I would be really sad to see it leave the air, I would follow it wherever it went, just please don’t cancel! Seeing them gather the old cast together and bury Alice Horton worries me a lot. I can remeber my gradmother and aunt watching Days in the 70′s and 80′s. I have even watched it. but i would relly hate to see it go off the air. at least befire it reaches its 50th birthday in 2015.
why not make it into a sort of CSI show that is a seed show of other shows that resemble days but have no days people on it

We have to all stick together to save a few of these shows to keep the higher rated ones. Say Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, Young and the Restless. All 3 of these at least. I only want one of them but will support all of of them.
Love Days have watched it for years now that I have retired and can actually watch it every dat abd dvr if busy… Let’s keep Bo and Hope together there is enough divorce in the world lets have a cinderella story with them… love the show, put one of the dimeras in jail that would be great!

I Love days and have watched it since I was a little girl and I like the time it is on and if I am unable to watch I simpy record it and watch is later like most do. I think it should stay on the same network I dont know if I would keep watching if things changed
