HEB Grocery Coupons 2011

HEB is a grocery store chain with 315 stores operating all over Texas and in Northern Mexico. The store is a privately owned, Texas-based chain that also runs an upscale version called Central Market. While both stores carry organic and “fine” foods, you’ll find a wider selection of organic and natural foods at Central Market stores.

HEB gets its funny name from its founder, a man named Herbert E Butts. While his name might be funny, his business is dead serious. HEB came in at number 11 on the 2006 Forbes Magazine list of “America’s Largest Private Companies.” Last year, HEB was named “Retailer of the Year” by Progressive Grocer magazine, and the grocery store chain is the twenty-seventh largest retailer in the United States. HEB has a heart for charity, often sponsoring or assisting in local charity causes as well as donating a full five percent of their pre-tax profits to national and international charities.

If you spend as much time in the grocery store as we at AskDeb do, you know the bottom line can really add up. Here are some ideas for saving money at HEB with HEB coupons, deals, promos, and other tricks.HEB Coupons

Online HEB Coupons

The best place to find HEB coupons online is HEB’s website. They post new coupons along with weekly ads right on the site for you to print and bring along with you. When you print coupons directly from HEB, there’s no worrying about whether or not they’ll honor the deal . . . if it comes directly from the company, you know it is a valid coupon.

Right now at HEB’s coupon site, the deals range from $5 off any perfume purchase to $10 off select brands of blood pressure monitors. These deals change weekly, so check out HEB’s coupon page before every shopping trip to stay up to date on their coupon offers.

Third-Party HEB Coupons

You may have a more difficult time using any coupons you print from third-party coupon hunting sites at HEB. They are fairly strict about their coupon policy, and some users report having to speak to a manager before certain coupons were honored.

Still, the venerable third-party coupon champ RetailMeNot.com has a page dedicated to printable HEB coupons and there are currently four deals listed as “active”, including special deals on specific products and even a generic “$5 off” deal that has about a 50% reported success rate.

HEB Coupon Policy

When using coupons at HEB, you should keep the store’s coupon policy in mind. The policy should be posted at every store, usually near the customer service desk. That policy is as follows:

  • There are no valid HEB coupons for “free” items–you will never see a valid HEB coupon for any grocery item for free. This includes “buy one get one free” deals. The store simply doesn’t offer or honor them.
  • Unless otherwise advertised, each HEB customer has a limit of $10 worth of coupon savings per visit. To get around this restriction, just split your grocery list in half and have two people do the shopping. That way you can save up to $20.
  • For every item you buy, you can use one HEB store coupon and one manufacturer’s coupon. All HEB store coupons have a small “S” symbol in one of the bottom corners to denote that it is a valid store coupon.

If you follow some basic rules and find coupons online, you can save a ton of money on your next grocery trip to your neighborhood HEB or Central Market.
