Everyone has their own idea of what makes the most perfect food. After all, everyone’s tastes are different. One person’s idea of the perfect food can be quite different from another’s. Finding the most perfect food depends on what you are looking for in food such as nutritional value, protein, or taste. There are so many different types of food that have different qualities which are essential to health. A body needs protein, vitamins A, B, and C, aminos, carbs, and other minerals in order to stay healthy.
So what is the most perfect food? Despite what some advertisers may claim, the simple truth is that there is no one perfect food. A healthy body needs a balanced diet comprised of an assortment of foods. If the body is given one type of food over a prolonged period, eventually it will begin to reject the nutrients from that one source. So you need several sources.
When you think of healthy foods, you tend to think of lushishly green vegetables. They are without a doubt some of the healthiest foods you can find. They include all the various vitamins and minerals plus they are low in calories and have no fats. The cornerstone of any healthy diet should revolve around vegetables as a staple.
Although they are all healthy, think ‘green’ when considering what vegetables to eat. Anything that is green is going to be better for you such as peas, lettuce, spinach, broccoli, and beans. I should mention that even though protein is usually found in meat, pinto beans are also a good source of protein and a good alternative for vegetarians out there.
Meats are undoubtedly the best source of protein. However, there is good meat and there is bad meat. The healthiest kind of meat you can eat is fish such as salmon, tuna, tilapia, and snapper. Cod is good as long as you don’t mind its strong ‘fishy’ taste. Fish contains all the right ‘fats’ and minerals that help fight off disease and won’t clog up your arteries with a lot of cholesterol. Besides fish, baked chicken without the skin is a good form of meat as long as it is white meat. The same goes for turkey.
Now, I love a good hamburger as much as the next person but I also know that red meat, while still contains protein, is the worst meat you can eat. It contains a lot of calories and fats that will contribute to high blood pressure, cholesterol, and add the inches to the waistline. Yes, I know its good but believe me, if you want to eat meat that has a good amount of protein without all that fat, stay away from red meat.
Fruits are very much like vegetables. They contain all the good things a body needs without all the bad stuff. You simply can’t go wrong with fruits and every balanced diet needs fruits in it. Now not every fruit is 100% healthy. Bananas, for instance, have a higher calorie count than most other fruits and too many can lead to constipation. The best kinds of fruit are the ‘juicy’ fruits. You can practically eat them all the time and remain healthy. Some of the better fruits to try out are strawberries, mangoes, kiwi, peaches, oranges, cantaloupe, watermelon, and apples. Make sure that you vary your fruits. Too much citrus may lead to an upset stomach while too many peaches could interfere with digestion.
Other Perfect Foods
There are other kinds of food which are close to being the perfect food. For grains, there is rice, oatmeal, wheat bran, and pasta (which is made from grain). For a long time it was claimed that milk was the perfect food. While it does contain sufficient amounts of protein and lactose, it is also deficient in many minerals such as iron and vitamin C. Some claim that coconut products such as coconut oil, coconut milk, coconut flesh, and water from inside the coconut are beneficial. There has even been some study into bee pollen, claiming the pollen contains sufficient nutrients for the human body to live on.
Mix It Up
So there really isn’t one type of food which is the most perfect. While some foods are better than others, it requires a mix of different foods from different groups to keep this complex system called the human body going. You might eat more vegetables or fruits than anything else but you will still need to supplement it with other sources.
