I read The Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss, and one of his better suggestion, I thought, was to only check your email twice a day. I remember working as a manager in corporate America that the sending and replying to email almost completely took over my day-to-day work life, and I can only imagine how much more actual "work" I could have gotten done if I had only checked my email once in the morning and once in the afternoon. But I still check my email throughout the day.
How often do you check your email? |

Randy,
I'm guilty of overchecking my email. I tested this question out today, making a little mark with a pencil every time I checked my email. Its only 2:45 where I am, and I've already checked my inbox 13 TIMES today. Granted, I'm trying to get in touch with a friend who just moved to town, but . . . this is getting ridiculous. |

My girlfriend just pointed out the other day that I would get more done if I wasn't checking my email constantly throughout the day...... I don't know how often I check it, but way more than needed. Not to mention it's like a gateway drug for me...I look at my email, then some forums, then maybe some poker...no wonder the work piles up!
