This is actually a very vague question as there are several side effects that can be the result of taking medication. It is very important that you consult a doctor or call 911 if you are feeling ill from taking any kind of medication. However, we have outlined four common medications that are taken by many world wide with what they are used for and their side effects.
A-hydroCort aka Hydrocortisone
Reduces swelling and helps treat immune or allergic disorders.
Side Effects: Increased sweating, nervousness, increased appetite, headache, dizziness, or lightheadedness
See a doctor immediately if any of these side effects occur: Chest pain, muscle pain or weakness, severe vomiting, fever, chills, swelling in the face, tightness in the chest, eye pain or increased pressure, changes in stool, sore throat.
Advil aka Ibuprofen
Reduces pain, fever, and inflammation
Side Effects: Headache, gas, diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, or heartburn.
See a doctor immediately if any of these side effects occur: Tightness in chest, chest pains, vision or speech changes, yellowing skin or eyes, persistent stomach pain, bloody stool, dizziness, dark urine, and trouble breathing.
Vicodin aka Acetaminophen/hydrocodone
Side Effects: nausea, constipation, upset stomach
See a doctor immediately if any of these side effects occur: dry mouth, hearing loss, hot flashes, allergic reaction, seizures, constipation, bleeding, decreased urination, and clammy skin.
Nyquil aka acetaminophen/dextromethorphan
Reduces cold, cough, fever, headache
Side Effects: costipation, diarrhea, dizziness, excitability (especially in little kids) nausea, vomiting, anxiety, and trouble sleeping.
See a doctor immediately if any of these side effects occur: Swelling of face, lips, or tongue, allergice reaction, fast heartbeat, chest pain, tightening chest, severe dizziness, and headache.

What you will want to watch for is changes in breathing, bowel movements, urination, and any neurological activities such as vision or hearing.
