Will There Be A 2nd Transformers Movie?

Considering that the 2007 Transformers film, starring Shia LaBeouf and directed by Michael Bay, made over 700 million dollars worldwide, it’s not unusual that I’m often asked, “Will there be a second Transformers movie, and when will the first Transformers movie come out on DVD?”. Luckily, I have both of those answers for you.

Plot of Transformers

Prior to the beginning of the film, a deadly war had been waged between the heroic Autobots and the villainous Decepticons (races which appear as giant robots). The Decepticon leader, Megatron, sought the All Spark to destroy his enemies, while the Autobots hoped to find it to end the war and restore their destroyed homeworld.

Megatron found the All Spark on Earth, but he crashed and was frozen in the Arctic Circle. The giant robot’s body was found by a group of explorers led by Captain Archibald Witwicky in 1897, and the location of the All Spark was copied onto his glasses.

The All Spark was discovered and hidden by the construction of the Hoover Dam. Megatron, also moved to the Hoover Dam, was studied by the U.S government, and many modern inventions were created by reverse engineering his body.

In present day, a group of Decepticons appear on Earth looking for their leader. They soon learn that Witwicky’s glasses hold the key to Megatron’s location, and they are currently in the possession of his descendant Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf).

When the Decepticons attempt to grab Witwicky, it is revealed that the Autobots are also on Earth. With both sides disguised as modern-day vehicles and aircraft, a running battle begins for possession of Witwicky and the glasses.

While much more occurs during the film, I don’t want to spoil the ending for those of you who haven’t seen it. Needless to say, however, the good guys triumph in the end.
